What the hell are you talking about? Burden of proof? Huh?

I don't need to rebut my argument because I think it's still stands: Having characters in sexy outfits should NOT be interpreted as an Okay to make porn of them.
You made the claim, we brought up facts that suggested it was false, you threw a hissy fit. Nobody ever suggested the rightsholders were intentionally provoking fanporn, we merely suggested that, contrary to your assertion, they simply aren't against it(and likely don't care).

Are you simply assuming the Nintendo and Gamefreak changed their positions or are you going to show us some proof? It seems to me you're just having a moral panic attack to the suggestion a company isn't strongly against people jerking off to a kids' franchise.

Sex sells, no need to deny it, and it doesn't matter how old or young the characters or the consumer base is. It sells in any situation; from the young boys to dirty old men.

I guess, but I can guarantee that not just dirty old men are going to be buying up the hentai.

Anyway I don't know why I'm so concerned about this. We're living in the age where lolicon is all over. I guess we'll just let the fans have it.

Wait a moment, just so that I know what I'm following in this conversation… that Hiakri and Pochama figurine from Banpresto isn't a cast off design, is it?

I'm not a huge figure collector so I have no idea what that means. Like a bootleg or something? I don't think so.

Around the time I saw loli fanservice in Doraemon and Detective Conan I said as much. Though in general, doujinshi and fan stuff is generally tolerated and seen as a staple of the anime fandom; free advertising, keeping interest in the property, and etcetera. That's pretty much what Comiket is based entirely around, doujin and fanworks, so it's not as if companies don't know where to go to shut it down if they truly wanted to. Keep in mind there's lots more merchandise out there for these characters, like character songs, soundtracks, figures, so all the interest and popularity generates money as well if it gets people to buy the character CDs and such.

Well I'm sorry if you interpreted that as a hissy fit.

And the only "proof" that's been giving is a couple chaste images of a chick in a swimsuit and a maid costume, neither really fitting my personal definition of raunchy. This is no Ralph Bakshi stuff, I can tell you that.

But then again, I see the characters of Pokemon about as sexually appealing as neanderthalic cave paintings, no matter what outfits they're wearing, so maybe it's just me?

Of course I'm just assuming. That's all any of us can really do, right? Hell, I'm pretty much basing a lot of what I'm saying on what Brian's saying, and the assumption that he's not either lying or misinformed. But hey, that's trust for you.

Hmm...wait a minute. When Brian is talking about Nintendo in that articale, is he talking about Nintendo of America, or Nintendo Japan? Just realized that....

And hey, dial it back a little. You're sounding a little agitated.

I've been following the whole ACTA and SOPA debate and the author of the article has gotten their information wrong, which isn't all that surprising.

First, ACTA hasn't been in danger in Europe. While some countries are refusing to ratify ACTA at this time, it's not doomed, they're merely setting the agreement aside until all of the hostility behind the bill has subsided. As has happened with the talks regarding ACTA, I expect that those European countries will end up voting on the bill in some secret fashion. The problem is that is the ratification fails (and ACTA supporters needs at least 7 countries in order for ACTA to get passed). I know there are around 5 or 6 countries that have passed ACTA, in order for Europe to be counted, they need every member in the Eu to sign on to it. As it currently stands, those states in opposition are just setting the ratification process aside until it can be addressed.

Second, SOPA? It hasn't failed to pass. Congress will be going back to SOPA very soon as Congress plans to bring SOPA back during this session of Congress. There's even talks about possibly reworking some of the provisions but that we haven't seen the last of SOPA.

Check out the articles over at http://www.techdirt.com for more information. They've been following ACTA and SOPA since the beginning and they're staunchly opposed to both bills/agreements.

I just realized I managed to misattribute the initial claim quite severely. Sorry about heaping it on your shoulders.

Looking back at it properly, that's clearly due to my above misattribution. I retract the claim.

I don't really see the maid getup as very fanservicey, but do remember that the primary audience is kids - fanservice has to be more subtle unless you want to enrage the moral guardians.

I still can't see any other reason for Haruka/May being so well-endowed at her age(well, other than "Why not?", that is).

Again, I apologize for that massive brainfart.

I'm not even sure NJ has a legal leg to stand on if it's them - does anybody know how the copyrights are divided between Nintendo and Gamefreak?

Duly noted.

Apology accepted, I myself am sorry if I ever came across too strongly....and if the rape analogy I made was going to far.
