Little Busters is only 1 season for now. It'll probably get a 2nd season down the line though (similar to how Clannad got After Story, Little Busters should get Refrain).
Its just a weird situation where Crunchy picked it up in the middle of the series.

Amnesia:
Wow, finally someone wrote what I was thinking all the time. Thank you, Bamboo!
Amnesia reminds me of Neo Angelique Abyss and Kimi ga Nozomu Eien:
The heroine is mentally absent, puzzled, confused, obedient, submissive, has a lack of own opinions, no temper and is boring. There's nor charm nor allurement. There's a supporting character (in Kimi: the sister | in Amnesia: the ghost) who is kind of annoying. In Angelique and Amnesia you can find many pretty boys but this cannot replace any content.
At least there's a ray of hope and that's why I think this series might get interesting. Her boyfriend, Shin, says the heroine's personality is different from before. Usually, she'd get angry if he kissed her or become upset when he did this and that - but this usual reaction was missing and he remarked it. So maybe she had a personality and is on her way to get it back?

6. Amnesia: So far I'm enjoying it. It's miles better than Hiiro no Kakera and Arcana Famiglia were at this point, and that's good enough for me! xD There's an interesting mystery at the heart of this show, and I really hope the series takes full advantage of it. Not getting my hopes up, though. So far, it's just very atmospheric and good-looking. I actually like the gradient hair, and especially the weird eyes. This isn't a "good" show, necessarily, but it's holding my interest for now. |
Nah, I don't think so. In my opinion there's a big difference. The characters in Hiiro no Kakera had different personalities and opinions while Amnesia's characters mostly seem to be blank - escpecially the heroine.

dude, are you serious or are you being sarcastic? This is not Amnesia: The Dark Descent. -_- And the anime of Amnesia makes sense if you've played the game, or so I feel. I understand why so many are confused though.

I don't know about that. In episode two while doing the fortune-telling she did have the ability to zero-in on a specific person. She also seemed to uncover things that didn't seem to be on their mind. |
Hmm, that latter thing is a little weird, because most other reactions from her have suggested that she can't go beyond surface thoughts. For example, in episode 3, she had to ask the teacher which hospital Manabe was in before she found it out She also couldn't determine that Muroto was joking about the torture. But then again, I can't explain how she managed to pick up thoughts like "I have an older sister" without digging below the surface, so you may be right on this one.

For all we know the person just had a passing thought about his sister and she picked it up.
She can target her ability if the person is within eyesight, and she can definitely pick up strong, focused thoughts more easily.
I'd guess that it may be possible for her to learn to dig deeper, but she has never tried because, well, why would she want to borrow even more trouble?

@Lord of Fire:
I didn't overlook that at all. She just couldn't tell who was saying what underneath the blanket. Once she could see the person, she was unerringly accurate and could zero in on a specific people instead of picking up stray thoughts.

I wonder how she knew that the dude had a brother, and that his brother was bringing home his girlfriend, and that he had stolen his brother's porno magazines. Unless he was actually thinking "better return those porno magazines before my brother finds out", I would argue that it is possible that Kotoura has the ability to dig deeper than just surface thoughts.

Another great piece. Your fairness and ability to call crap crap (Senran Kagura, for example, though I never saw in So, I Can't Play H! what you did) are enjoyable as always. I, too, am absolutely riveted by the latest Space Brothers arc.
Bamboo wrote: | Weird can be good, but this show feels like it's trying too hard. |
I liked Sasami-san more than you did (not as much as some, and I'd call "anime of the season" excessive), but I agree with that sentiment totally.
Same sentiment on Vividred, though I'd have chucked a word out about how the action sequences are great, at least the one in episode 2.
The one rating I disagree with is Tamako Market, where I'd agree with the praise you give it however only let it lift that up to maybe slot 10.

I knew going into this that Bamboo would dislike Senran Kagura. Can't say I agree with her as I find it a fun and enjoyable to show to watch.

So yeah dtm42 basically hit the nail on the head about Kotoura , which should have its name changed to KotoManipulation. Most absurd first 10 minutes I think I've ever seen. Honestly, I've had many experiences with mentally handicapped kids with everything all the way to Down's syndrome, and none of them could be that oblivious. I don't see how this is so hard to spot. It feels like everyone has gotten Chunibyou lol. Just accept it folks lol. Don't worry the rest of the show makes up for it, it should still have a fairly high rating compared to the other stuff from this season. |
I didn't think the first ten minutes of Kotoura was absurd, I though it was enjoyable. I've seen fully functional adults be that oblivious. I'm going to agree with Bamboo on this more than dtm (though the less I say about my opinions of dtm the better).

So far all the episodes of Vividred operation has being like "girl finds another girl who can transform into magical girl and then they fight a giant monster by fusion Yu-gi-oh style", and I can guarantee that is going to be the premise for the 4th episode as well. Yet Bamboo is still continuing to watch this show even though Bamboo complained about the same sort of formulaic set up for Sasami-san?
The only thing that I can suggest here is watch some more of S@G. The first two episode already showed significant merit in its animation and comedy, so why not give it a try for the 3rd episode?

what would happen if two mind readers met each other?
person A would read person B's mind, who was reading person A's mind. so A would be reading their own mind reading B's mind and B would be reading their own mind reading A's mind...
...it'd be like putting two mirrors opposite each other...their heads might explode?

I wouldn't call it a clone of Haruhi Suzumiya. They might have similar premises, but these two shows have entirely different characters. S@G is pretty much aimed more for otaku.

I'm a bit sad to see Hunter x Hunter no longer on The Stream. I must have missed an announcement. You didn't drop it during Yorkshin did you Bamboo? Anyway, Green Island has been pretty fun what with Bisuke's thorough training. |
I also enjoy talking about H x H. Bamboo mentioned previously that she is still watching it, but that she isn't reviewing it on The Stream anymore because she sort of ran out of good things to say about it I think. She had already shortened her reviews of it to make room for the other new stuff, but said something about how the current reviews of it were getting sort of repetitive. Like I said, I believe she is still watching it.

Koutora-san is definitely the big surprise of this season. When I first read what it was about I wasn't expecting much to be honest, I sure as hell didn't think that it was going to be this good.
I completely agree with Bamboo on Senran Kagura. The bouncing boobs made it hard to focus on anything else. I usually check out anime like this on the off chance that I find it hilarious (like Queen's Blade), but Senran Kagura didn't make me laugh once. It was so bad.
And I was going to watch Cuticle Detective Inaba, but I don't think that I'll bother now. I haven't read a single positive review.

I only watched a few moments of Amnesia, but regardless this is my favorite line in the column:
Quote: | Amnesia is based on one of those visual novels for ladies where you're surrounded by hot, sensitive dudes, and if you play your cards right, they'll confess their love to you and maybe bring you a pastry from that shop you really like. |
Ah, yes, pastries. The golden door to a Japanese girl's heart it seems from watching anime!
As I posted in the show's thread here, I knew nothing about the plot of Kotoura-san when I began watching it, so the whole notion of mind reading was the furthest thing from my mind. I imagined that she was simply very perceptive and had a good memory. So I was as unaware as any of the people around Kotoura about her abilities and could see why they behaved as they did toward her. As someone with no prior knowledge, I found the opening ten minutes very compelling.
Bamboo, I presume AKB0048 is also off your list because the first season wasn't streamed? I'm hoping the next couple of episodes move on from the fanservice, in all its forms, and that Okada gets back to writing about political repression. That's what drew me to the first season, though I must admit finding Chieri one of the most beautifully-drawn young ladies in recent memory, though she still cannot compare to Chihaya.
