Before, haven't you seen Escalayer? I thought it was funny that in the MSNBC response thread an anonymous gave several recommendations, and they ranged from Mushishi and Grave of the Fireflies to Bible Black. Then they threw in "Kodomo no Jikan" is fine too. |

Actually, they just had broadcasting rights, Starz/Manga Entertainment owns the distribution or something... But it is a worthwhile bit of info to point out, chances are though however, that IS where he saw it.

i linked it on my lj because it is such a farce of inaccuracies, conflicting info, broad sweeping generalizations, and false facts. wow. i personally thought it was hilariously amusing in the cynical mindset of a 31 year old female who has been an otake for 13+ years now. yup. i'm just a sick twisted lonely social perv. i guess he should tell that to my girlfriend too 
just because, when i buy my Gurren Lagann, i'm gonna rub it all over my body, make happy fangirl squealing sounds, and then run to the checkout counter to buy it. booya!

pft. people have been depicting things being stuck into peoples bums, whether explicitely, or more for humor than true pron, for years. not exactly nothing new. and yet, shows like Family Guy, Robot Chicken, or Drawn Together to name a few, don't get these intensely deep sociological and usually inaccurate studies. why? cause it's an american cartoon and thus harmless. sounds a bit like racism/prejudice to me... |

You'd think with a PhD would come some form of mastery over research tools and finding sources of information, but I guess deadlines and thorough research on a complex topic don't mix very well. Gurren Lagann has more in common with George Orwell's Animal Farm than a notoriously disturbing horror/porn anime. I'm as conservative as they come, but I do wish the media would get past its OMG BOOBIES LOL phase. |

I'd probably feel more sorry for Patrick getting taken out of context, if his AWO/Otaku U.S.A. mafia didn't also like to filter out fan comments which aren't self-serving to their respective blogs. But hey, he could always pull a Seanbaby, and post a transcript, if he has that stuff on hand.

I'm with this guy. The article is pretty well written and fairly accurate. As far as Gurren... have you guys seen it? I've only seen one episode but it featured a half naked woman who's breast were CONSTANTLY bouncing up and down, like 5 butt shots, the main character fell face first into someone's chest and there were like 10 cleavage shots. That show isn't even a pervy show and it featured all of that... and this character doesn't even show up until like the last 10 minutes of the episode yet they managed to pack in all of that. And in all honesty, thats pretty much the norm for anime not aimed at little kids.. Don't act like you've never heard of "fan service" before. |
