Good to see the update. Looks like the TV broadcast in Japan would be over by then, which means it is likely to be 10-12 episodes?

Maybe, manga continues to released.

Wonder if they'll get Kyle McCarley back for the dub.

Yeah, there are quite a few chapters but each episode is short not the full 22-25 minutes length so not sure if it will just be one episode per chapter.

Might be a silly question but how familiar should I be with Detective Conan to watch this spin off?

Don't know how far you've read, but if you already know the Scarlet Return arc between volume 84 / 85 and chapters 891-898, you should have a good basis for Zero's backstory.
However, sporadically there are little minimal references to things from the arcs after and before, and I think if you don't know the context, it's not that big of a deal, and those who are familiar with the references basically just know where to place it chronologically within the main storyline.

I think you can have fun with this spinoff even without knowing much about the main story or with only knowing some rough basic trivia like regarding the different factions in the series, because the arcs themselves have little to do with the latter and tell independent events (like a filler with the side characters), but you would probably be sometimes confused when certain characters from the main story interact with each other, and you don't know what relationship they have. And Zero's backstory in itself is (or more like "was") a heavy spoiler in the main storyline.

Effectively not that much because while it would be more enjoyable to know everything about the main series to watch this spin-off it doesn't really matter that much. This manga was made with general audience in mind, not necessarily targeting long-time fans.

I highly recommend people who are scared off when seeing the 1000 episode count of the main series to try this first. The stakes are a lot lower for this series. If you don't like it, just drop it.

Tbh, I think you have to be very familiar. Because the enjoyment of this series mostly depends on how much you like the featured character Amuro Toru. That's why this spin-off is somewhat controversial among Detective Conan fandom because not everyone likes Amuro

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll try the first few episodes when it comes out.
