The MC's mother appears only in a flashback instead present and let me guess, another dead mom in another Shinkai's movie? If it's true, then it's another typical Shinkai movie since Your Name and Weathering with You: unique visuals, natural disasters, Radwimps and dead mom. Typical Shinkai.

Wow the trailer showed practically the whole movie...at least now we know what's going on with the chair, sorta.
Aw Shinkai brought back the themed family names (Tsubame and Suzume are birds). I really liked that little aspect in Your Name with it being generational. So cute ^^ |

The new trailer is surprisingly chaotic compared to the earlier ones. It does seem like a fun Shinkai movie, although I don't know how much appetite I have left for fun Shinkai movies after this. Maybe a sad Shinkai movie every once in a while would be nice. But hey, I'll take any Shinkai I can see on the big screen - Weathering with You was an incredible cinematic experience and this one looks just as amazing.
By the way, I noticed that according to the poster, Aniplex is on the production committee this time in addition to the usual suspects. Maybe that's why Crunchyroll got the license. |

Kinda disappointed, I was thinking the movie looked like a non romance movie like Children Who Chase, but I guess he has to keep up the formula from Your Name. The fact that the other guy looks so old doesn't help either.
Oh well, at least the plot itself looks exciting and the animation is good as expected. I just wish Shinkai would branch out more despite how much I liked WWY.
Huh? Most of his movies have sad or melancholic endings barring Your Name. WWY was happy on the surface but still had underlying dread |

I personally don't get why people say all Makoto Shinkai movies have the same plot when I'm pretty sure none of his other movies have an evil space cat or a talking chair. As someone who actually enjoyed Weathering With You, I'm looking forward to this.
