WOW! Thanks for this anime rich news update. So many things to consider with regards to how this will impact anime. What a great site. A must go to for everything related to anime.

NOTICE:
Above statement is an example of sarcasm and should not be taken literally.

I have 4 or 5 great sites I go to for this kind of info. This is like the 2rd or 3rd non-anime related story in the last month or so. They don't piss on your tree so stop pissing on theirs.

...Really? How in the hell is them reporting on this 'pissing on a tree'? Yeesh, you'd think they'd kicked your dog or something.

ANN reports on anime; anime comes from Japan; it's not such a crazy notion that fans of Japanese cartoons might also be fans of some live-action Japanese stuff, especially stuff as classic as Godzilla. So even if it's a US film based on said franchise, I see no reason why they can't report on it.

Seriously, if they want to report on anything even marginally Godzilla related then I am all for it. Have you not noticed the articles about japanese pop stars, crimes, video games etc that have nothing or very little to do with anime either? All things Japan are fair game, always have been. And I for one love it that way.

Wow, that's a coup unlike anything I've seen in a while. Pretty much shuts down WB's attempts at their DC universe now that most of the creative heads behind it are jumping ship.

With Universal only having the Fast & Furious and recently, the Despicable Me franchises as their only big cash cows right now but compared to other major studios, they desperately need more and since Legendary Pictures has a lot of ties to creating major franchises for Warner Bros, this is Universal's lucky day at last that the two have parted ways and decides to snatch them up.

Universal, your chance to create new awesome film franchises is now at your grasp! Don't screw this partnership up!

I enjoy ANN the way it is. I do not wish to see it change their content over noght or little by little. But that could never happen right? No one ever changes web site content.

Yea that was my point. Look it's their rule not mine.

Submitted Content:
Can I submit news about a non-Japanese animation?
No. We're Anime News Network, not "Animation News Network", not "Asian Animation Network." There's plenty of good animation from around the world, including Korea and China, but we only cover Japanese animation, not French, Mexican, Chinese, African, Korean or Afghanistanimation.

That's an interest article, not a news article. It would not show up on animenewsnetwork.com/news/

Oh for that, that is different because as long as it's anime, or anything that relate to Japan, then it's relevent to ANN. Like for example:

-ANN reported on American remake of Oldboy, how is that related to Anime or Japan? Well the American remake of Oldboy is based off of a manga which makes it significant for ANN to report.

-ANN reported on Japan remaking an American western film. Now why does ANN report on that when it's not related to anime or manga? Because it involved Japan and ANN report anything Japan related when no anime or manga is involved.

For the Uncharted 3 report, I guess the reason ANN reported on it is because well it relate to Japan. For the Legendary Pictures link up with NBC Universal, I guess ANN reported on it because Legendary is working on the American Godzilla film and Godzilla is from Japan.

Discuss the content of the article or don't discuss at all. If you have feedback regarding ANN's content and the articles that are written then take that to the feedback forum. The talkback threads are for talking about what's in the article, not to soapbox on whether the article should even exist.

If you wish to further discuss the nature of the kind of news and articles that ANN posts then take it to the appropriate place, but the line of discussion is done in this thread.
