Really? I was.
It is by no means a bad movie. And much better than the prequels. I can simply not believe though that Disney threw out all the extended universe material... for this. There are far better stories already written. Far worse too, but that is beside the point. 
This is a lazy reboot of the original trilogy. With nothing in the way of inventiveness or risk-taking. In that regard the prequel trilogy despite being bad movies, at least were willing to take risks and do something new. Here there is not a moment that has not been pulled from somewhere else. The only risk was casting a black lead, and he was quite good. I actually enjoyed the TV series more than this movie. I am hopeful the next film will be far better though. As they seem to have gotten through a lot of the rehashing now. As for the actual article. I always find it easy to avoid specific plot spoilers. But then I do enjoy watching trailers, so don't consider them in the same light as such. If you wanted to avoid hearing ANYTHING like her. Then yes you would have a very hard time of it.

Ha that looks like a fun manga.
Star Wars was decent. Wasn't bad at all, but not as fantastic as people are saying it is. The plot was ok and the new character were nothing to write home about. {Edit: How about we leave out the rude trollish comments that serve only to derail a thread shall we? ~ Psycho 101} |

I find it very easy to avoid spoilers, but then again I don't use Twitter or other kinds of social media. Then then again, I didn't have any real interest in the new trilogy at all, so I actually read the Wikipedia summary when it came out just to see what it was like since I probably would never watch the movies. spoiler[Kind of sounded like a point-for-point remake of A New Hope from what I read.]
Post-movie stories always seemed kind of fanfictiony to me because you're inevitable going to have to include the children of the original cast, if not the original characters themselves. The only real Star Wars fiction I was interested in was the Old Republic era since it's more or less it's own storyline and no risk of retreading movie territory so it could do it's own thing. -Stuart Smith |

The movie was all right (action and character wise, IMO) but the plot was too predictable and left me underwhelmed.
I usually don't mind spoilers, but since critics were saying SW:TFA was really good I had high hopes for it and kept myself spoiler free, so I can better judge it for myself. I don't have any friends who are Star Wars fanatics, so my social media feed was free of spoilers, and everyone who's seen it was very careful about not revealing the story. |

I stayed away from reading any kinds of news articles relating to Star Wars until I saw the movie. Surprisingly spoilers seemed to be kept under wraps on social media as far as what I saw. The only thing I ended up spoiling for myself was an article I saw that stated spoiler[Admiral Ackbar was going to be in the movie.] But it wasn't too bad.

Very funny watching that chapter and seeing how the main character there is just like every other Star Wars fans going nuts over The Force Awakens!
Since I just got back from seeing the latest new episode of the Star Wars saga, the film does feel like it is rehashing certain plot points from the original trilogy, but with how very well acted it was and how it easily makes up for the huge blunders that the prequel trilogy was infamous for, I would say that the film did a good job in reintroducing Star Wars for the modern era and I can't wait to see how Episode VIII will follow from here including the upcoming Star Wars Anthology film that is Rogue One. |

I'll take a lazy reboot of the original trilogy over the even lazier clinical insanity we recently had that WASN'T the original trilogy. If you've seen the documentary "The People vs. George Lucas", where they debate Lucas's question of "They're my movies, not 'your' movies!", well, here's a movie without him, and which do you prefer? One of the problems with the prequels was that Lucas had become such a control freak of his franchise, he didn't do what he did so well as a 70's director--namely to hire good people and trust their work--and ended up taking over jobs he may have been unqualified to do on the prequels, like directing and screenwriting. Those who forgot that it was Lawrence Kasdan who contributed to Empire and Jedi's success will be pleasantly reminded by this new movie.
(As for SPOILERS, I'll say that if you heard Mark Hamill would be coming back, and spent the last eight months theorizing how Luke Skywalker would figure into the new story....spoiler[boy, did you throw those months down the toilet. ])

The new Star Wars film has managed to do something in Japan that most movies can't do: actually make the Japanese moviegoers not be totally silent in the theater - as someone else mentioned:
Star Wars has always been part of anime. Didn't ya see the famed animated video that made Gainax all the way back to Daicon in the 1980s?!

I've never seen starwars....at all. Like I have seen nothing of it and was only interested in seeing a big sci fi franchise like this have a main character who was actually my race. I'm interested in trying this manga out like others but I have a quick question for any starwars vets here:
Is it required to have seen the previous movies to see this one? |
