Walt Disney Japan announced on Monday that it will release four films from Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki — two animators who would eventually co-found Studio Ghibli — on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on July 17. Retailers list one of the films, Takahata's 1972 film Gauche the Cellist (Serohiki no Gauche), with Japanese, English, and French subtitles under the Ghibli ga Ippai Collection label.
This film has not had a English-subtitled DVD or Blu-ray release in an English-speaking country, although Onebilling released a "Multi-Touch" e-book in Apple's iBooks store.
Retailers also list one of the other four films, Panda! Go, Panda!, with both English dubbing and subtitles. However, they do not list English dubbing or subtitles for the remaining two films, Miyazaki's Sherlock Hound (Meitantei Holmes: Aoi Ruby no Maki / Kaitei no Zaihō no Maki) and Takahata's Jarinko Chie.
