Watch 37 Manga Creators Draw Magazine Poster Together in Video
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
This year's 48th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine, which shipped on Monday, marked the magazine's overall 2,000th issue. To mark the achievement, special posters are on display at 15 East Japan Railway Company train stations. The magazine's official website began streaming a video of the main poster visual's creation on Sunday.
A total of 37 manga creators who have works serializing in Weekly Big Comic Spirits or in Shogakukan's Monthly! Spirits magazine provided art for the posters. Contributing artists include Naoki Urasawa, Masami Yuuki, Akiko Higashimura, and Inio Asano. To the right of the collective image, the posters feature individual manga such as Shohei Manabe's Ushijima the Loan Shark and Masaharu Noritsuke's Kekkon Afro Tanaka. The individual art of the posters is different at each participating station.
In addition, the original hand-drawn illustration for the posters was on display at JR Shinagawa Station in Tokyo until the last train on Tuesday. The illustration will be on display in various locations in Japan until November 4.
