The rock band KANA-BOON underwent a crisis this month when bassist Yūma Meshida disappeared for approximately 10 days. The band cancelled their "KANA-BOON no OSHI-MEEN!!" live event in Tokyo while authorities looked into Meshida's disappearance. Fortunately, Meshida was found unharmed but he won't be returning to band activities immediately.
The band issued a statement on their official website on Wednesday. The statement reads that the band lost contact with Meshida because he was dealing with issues stemming from anxiety and the pressure of his career. This resulted in Meshida becoming unstable and seeking medical help. Meshida and the doctors realized he was combating a mental illness.
In order for the KANA-BOON bassist to focus on his treatment, he is suspending his music activities with the band for the time being. The statement says that after Meshida is in good physical and mental health, they will discuss his future with the group.
The remaining band members Maguro Taniguchi, Hayato Koga, and Takahiro Koizumi will continue their activities with KANA-BOON. A support bassist will join the group for their planned live concerts. They band asked fans not to bother Meshida, his family, and medical staff during his time of recovery.
KANA-BOON formed in high school in 2008, and released their first single in 2013. They have released four studio albums. The group have performed theme songs for the Naruto Shippūden, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, The Perfect Insider, and Karakuri Circus anime series, and the Boruto -Naruto the Movie- anime film. Most recently, they are performing the opening theme song for the Sarazanmai anime.
