Getter Robo Inspires Mahjong-Themed Manga

Takeshobo's Kindai Mahjong (Modern Mahjong) magazine announced on Thursday that it will begin a new manga series titled Getter Robo High in its January 15, 2017 issue, which ships on December 15. The word "high" in the title is spelled with the kanji character for a mahjong tile.
Bingo Morihashi (Devil May Cry 3 & 4, 7th Dragon 2020 games) will write and Drill Jiru will draw the story based on Ken Ishikawa and Go Nagai's Getter Robo anime and manga franchise. The taglines for the manga read, "The legendary 'transforming robot' and 'mahjong' combine!!" and "Getter Rays!? Atlantis!? Tile Beasts!? All the mysteries will be explained with 'mahjong'!!!!!!!"
Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi launched a Getter Robo spinoff manga, Getter Robo Devolution: Uchū Saigo no 3-bun Kan (Getter Robo Devolution ~The Last 3 Minutes of the Universe~), in Akita Shoten's Bessatsu Shōnen Champion magazine in December 2015. Akita Shoten will release the second compiled volume in January.
