Run with the Wind Marathon Racing Anime Unveils More Cast, Designs

The official website for Run with the Wind, the television anime of Shion Miura's Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (Feel the Wind) novel, unveiled four voice cast members and the designs for five characters on Saturday.
The newly announced cast members are:
Kengo Kawanishi as Kōsuke Sakaki, Kakeru's teammate during high school
Satoshi Hino as Kazuma Fujioka, Rokudō University's captain and ace
Koutarou Nakamura as Genichirō Tazaki, the landlord of the Chikusei-sō dormitory and manager
The website also showed the designs for Tazaki's dog Nira:
The novel centers on the Tokyo-Hakone Round-Trip College Ekiden Race or "Hakone Ekiden," one of the biggest university marathon relay races in Japan. The race is held every year on January 2-3 and goes between Tokyo and Hakone and back, for a total run of 217.9 km (about 135.4 miles).

Kazuya Nomura (Robotics;Notes, Joker Game, Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie) is directing the series at Production I.G. Shinchosha is credited with planning cooperation. Voice actor and The Kirishima Thing film scriptwriter Kohei Kiyasu is both writing and overseeing the series scripts. Takahiro Chiba (Occult Academy character designer, Haikyu!! chief animation director) is designing the characters. Hideki Takahashi (Haikyu!!, Neon Genesis Evangelion) and Takashi Mukouda (Gurren Lagann, Space Dandy) are key animators. Hiromi Kikuta (Haikyu!!, Mr. Osomatsu) is sound director, and Yuki Hayashi (DIVE!!, My Hero Academia) is composing the music.
The 23-episode anime will premiere on NTV, BS-NTV, YTV, and other channels in October. Ōtsuka, Toyonaga, Okitsu, and Kabumoto will appear at an advance screening of the first two episodes on September 23 at Tokyo's TOHO CINEMAS Hibiya.
Shinchosha published the novel in September 2006. The novel inspired a live-action film adaptation that premiered in October 2009. The film is available on Netflix Japan, and it describes the story:
A friendship between two sidelined athletes helps them return to their beloved sport and build a team for a competitive long-distance relay race.
A stage play adaptation also ran in January through February 2009. A six volume manga adaptation by Sorata Unno debuted in 2007 in Weekly Young Jump, then moved to Monthly Young Jump in 2008 and ran there until 2009.
Miura's The Great Passage (Fune wo Amu) novel inspired an award-winning live-action film directed by Yuya Ishii that opened in Japan in 2013. The film won the Japan Academy Prize for Picture of the Year in 2013. The book also inspired a television anime series that premiered in October 2016.
