Jazz music is much the stars as the main cast in this story about teens who become friends in late 1960s Japan. Great sounds and good character development bolster what is otherwise a fairly pedestrian character drama.

A story of parenthood and childhood, of a boy and girl who can become wolves in a blink, and of the “ordinary” woman, no less amazing, who bears and raises them. It's wonderful.
