Yep... You can tell Mir did this. Hopefully we get the same amazing animation that we got from the Avatar franchise.

Looks really good, but my only concern is that the 2D animation looked a little stiff, with not much movement going on.
Maybe it was just the clips they showed, but I hope the 3D animation doesn't eat up all the budget.

So how many episodes until Shiro either bites the dust or get severely injured so Princess Allura takes his place?

Looking good! I hope the previews are just messing with us and the reason why the Blue Lion is going crazy is because the wrong person is piloting it and the group's dynamics get flipped from the Black Lion choosing Keith over Shiro.

Enjoyed that PV. Never saw an episode of the original, only connection to Voltron I ever had was liking the toys. Will check this series out.

The voice acting sounds so meh.
I don't know if it was the clips they used but they sound kinda flat.
I've got no reaction to this either way besides noting the Avatar style, seems like it's basically for kids or old fans.

I remember very little about the original Voltron series, but wasn't Princess Allura one of the lion pilots?

Same boat for me, even if the animation looks fine, the writing might end up being "ho hum" if not turn south very quickly.
We can still hope that this show will turn out to be something special.

Eh...
I'm not sold; the humor and writing seems to skew a bit young. It doesn't seem like the kind of show I'd be terribly interested in. I'll keep an eye out in case it seems like it'll get any better, though.

She replaced Sven Holgersso, who known as Shiro in this version.
I do hope they don't make this new version to dumbed down with comedy. It was bad
enough the original series was edited when Sven fell into "water" with Prince Lotor. Whe he was suppose to have died.

Art style alone made that obvious, but the writing and 'comedy' in the trailer kind of sealed the deal.

Yup, good stuff

Joaquim Dos Santos is known for his dynamic action directing in American cartoons, and Studio Mir did some great work on Avatar and even better work the Legend of Korra. Also, viva la 2D animation! |
Yeah, really looking forward to seeing even more of his work.
Their work was so good on Avatar and Korra, Korra was such a gorgeous show, I look forward to seeing them get to work again.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This looks like it's going to be gooooooooood! I just have a couple of minor complaints about it. One:Why did they have to change the name from Sven to Shiro? I know that in the original Japanese series, the Sven character's name was Shirogane, but what's wrong with Sven and his goofy Swedish accent? I didn't mind it. Two:The show's going to be on Netflix. Why? I don't have a Netflix account so I'm not going to be able to see it. I wouldn't mind if this were on cable or they put it on a broadcast station or syndicated it. Also, this show could help revive Saturday morning cartoons!
I also hope that this version of "Voltron" brings back some of the original voice actors like Michael Bell and B.J. Ward. It would be great to hear them again. I hope they do that.

Netflix is funding it

SatAM cartoons is a thing of the past. There are other ways now to watch cartoons at any time (24/7 channels, on-demand, official websites, streaming, etc), so there's no need to wake up early SatAM (plus kids do extracurricular activities now on SatAM instead of staying home - soccer, baseball, football, band, etc).

The trailer already showcases the kind of comedy it will have. I've never really gotten into American animation because of that. Mostly what passes as comedy are dumb quips and one-liners rather than actual dialogue and jokes, especially in action cartoons which are also filled with puns and snarky one liners.
