My face. Was not meant to contort this way. I'm half tempted to watch this on a personal dare like how I ended up watching two girls, one cup. (Why? F*** me if I know). It'd be equally tortuous. It's too ridiculous to even bother getting offended or angry over, yet too squicky to be unintentionally hilarious. I just can't even. At least the reviews are amusing with all the WTFwitery. |

It's based on an otome game series with 15+ and 17+ ratings in Japan. The target audience is more josei than shoujo. |

That review is hilarious. I wanted a laugh, so I checked out the show--not bad as unintentional comedy, but still quite squicky. Tomoko Kuroki (of Watamote fame) might love the tsuntsun, abusive guys that make up poor Chichinashi/Pancake's harem, but I have a limited patience for emo vampires. |

I like to support stuff made for women, but this.... ugh. pass. one of the guys is like 12 years old in physical maturity. Not my thing. ick.

Well, at least the review was hilarious. It's a shame because the artwork is really pretty but seriously wtf is wrong with Japan. What kind of show aimed at girls has a main character whose "petname" is "No boobies". If there's any girl out there who feels moe moe kyun kyun from being bullied, beaten and abused on a fantasy-daily basis I'd say they need professional help asap

Totally agree. I get the impression though that otome gamers in Japan really enjoy stuff that is over-the-top. I was reading somewhere that Touma was the favorite route in Amnesia on some poll or another. He was the guy that put the MC in the cage. I think that the appeal is less self-insert and more just plain enjoyment of the shocking narrative. I think stuff like this is a bit less tolerated in most Western cultures, just because of the abuse aspect. I don't care for it at all. If nothing else, Diabolik lovers harem all have the same unpleasant personalities. Not a lot of variation. It would be boring if not for the squick factor. I know that I usually enjoy the crazy, nut-case characters in anime, since they are so entertaining and off-the-wall. Usually they provide a nice contrast to all the stammering and apologizing the other characters seem to do. This however, is different, since all the guys are jerks. |
