Jeez, is this band that awful?
(Honestly, most of what I've heard of them involves that internet kerfuffle of their fans vs. K-pop fans last year, and Lord knows one should never hold a group's fandom against them.) Anyway, I still like the movie's cast and the story sounds innocuous enough so the theme song is not that important. |

There's probably a little close-mindedness, not that I can blame it. This is their first album that is actually good. People, especially guys (being from that vantage), ought to give it a go because the sound is quite different from what people may have heard from them in the past. Their music video for arguably the best track of the album, "Story of My Life", has nearly 190 million views on YouTube. |

Eh, they're basically the equivalent of an idol group who girls go crazy over. Otaku and their waifus are no different. This is a shoujo film, and their main fans are girls, so it makes sense. |

Why are people upset about this? I honestly can't tell the difference between One Direction and the hundreds of manufactured, corporate sponsored boy bands in Asia.

More than likely Sony Music Japan is part of the production committee so it's cheaper to licence for the movie since they already have 1D rights in Japan similar to how Roundabout was used in Jojo's. |

They're very popular in Japan. (And probably most countries to be honest).
I walked past a 1D lorry the other week that was playing their music whilst it drove around Osaka. |

Not that's what the lyrics mean, but hardly anybody pays attention to the lyrics anyways. (I'm more baffled since it's about leaving a relationship.) Besides, when's the last time we paid that attention to OP and ED themes? Do we even know what the popular Attack on Titan theme mean? We just like how these things sound.
