Oh yeah, Sado, the guy with the best/worst pun on his special attack in "La Muerte" and super important character that then got discarded and his character development regressed, together with Orihime, because Kubo is a hack.

Yes, I am still salty of Blech post Hueco Mundo, how did you realice?

In this case, as well meaning as the article is, Bleach does have a problem with having Chad be the noble minority who never fights back, and then decides to fight for his already privileged friend.

Big problem with that... Ichigo is a member of an oppressed minority group. Oppressed enough that they were basically genocided out of existence by the powerful, privileged majority.

Always had a soft spot for Chad and his relationship with Ichigo; there was a true sense of camaraderie between them. Which makes it all the heartbreaking when Chad effectively becomes the Krillin of the group and needs to be bailed out by Ichigo.

The beginning of the Arrancar arc when Ichigo saves Chad from being killed by a fodder Arrancar, and effectively treats him like a damsel to be saved really cut deep for Chad, because he realized that not only was he not strong enough to fight alongside Ichigo anymore, Ichigo himself no longer had any faith in Chad to watch his back like they did before. That hurt.

And while there was a token attempt at addressing that with Chad getting a power up, he pretty much fell right back in his usual role of being taken out by a strong enemy and after that point, his relationship with Ichigo is all but forgotten. To the point where the last few chapters shift Renji and Rukia as Ichigo's BFF's.

Chad deserved a better series.
