Because:

1.)...we have ANOTHER super popular Weekly Shounen Jump action title where the supposed female co-lead are screwed over even in this day in age; it's a very annoying pattern, and

2.)...for all the show's protestations (as well as the very series' premise) of Tanjiro doing all this to save his dear sister, this series does an exceptionally bad job giving why these 2 siblings love each other especially on Nezuko's perspective. Really, this show could have easily got rid of those 2 boys and have Nezuko be the comic-relief character who slowly develops her being human as well as have her and Tanjiro rekindle that sibling bond.
