Does anyone else think it's kind of amusing that this comes out the DAY AFTER Brian has to deal with it for Answerman? I bet he would have liked to have this information a touch sooner.
Regarding the news itself: at least it isn't dead. I know that Japan has different expectations for publicity, but some news is better than no news.

This is kinda ironic since the original Sailor Moon anime was early. The anime came out within days after the manga debuted!
If Toei is smart, they'd use this extra time to finalize deals with international TV networks, so by the time it airs in Japan, it'd also be ready sooner on the global stage. Like DBZ, SM is one of those few anime that was actually an international TV phenomenon that people remember.

Well,it looks like the new "Sailor Moon" anime's been delayed. I've seen "Sailor Moon,"not "Pretty Cure." It's a pretty good show. Everyone should calm down and take deep breaths. We'll probably see it soon. Hopefully, someone will license this and bring it to America.

Which is why I hope the new Sailor Moon has at least 50 episodes so they can put this on a broader cable channel like Nickelodeon and get fresh new viewers beyond just the nostalgic ones for their first magical girl fix.
(though in the back of my mind, I wished Heartcatch Precure was localized so more girls can experience how you can be pretty and badass at the same time )

New Sailor Moon will almost certainly run parallel to it regardless. Pretty Cure is too profitable for Toei to quit making it. |
I imagine the new Sailor Moon will be a 24-26 episode late night anime instead of trying to compete with Precure for the kids audience, anyway. |
That makes the most sense. This anime is supposed to adapt the original manga as faithfully as possible, and the original manga had some pretty heavy violence and adult themes. The only way to faithfully adapt the manga without heavy changes for content purposes is to air it late at night. |
Where does it say this anime's going to adapt the manga as faithfully as possible? Are you sure that's not just an expectation you have?

I don't understand why anyone thinks this anime would be any less than 50 episodes at least. That tends to be the minimum for Toei's Magical Girl series.

Not Winter 2014, delayed from Summer 2013. Considering we're in Spring 2013, I think there's only one possibility left.

Just wondering, has there actually been confirmation that Toei is the studio handling animation? I can't seem to find it pointed out anywhere.....
I don't think it won't be Toei, but frankly, Toei is kinda totally bad.
If Madhouse got it though. Wow. It would be a friggin work of art every frame.
I only say this since the creator of Sailor Moon is married to the creator of Hunter x Hunter, and his manga is being redone by Madhouse despite another company handling the animation before.
Aw... To dream......

I've had no better luck Gordan. At the moment, I think the only thing that can be safely assumed about new Sailor Moon is that it's getting made.

How about this? I say the BONES staff who worked on Ouran, Soul Eater, and Star Driver will be the ones doing the animation thus upping the FABULOUS without needing Ikuhara!
It's fun to dream.

Considering the new anime is supposed to be adapted closer to the manga version I don't think putting it on Nick is a good idea lol.
