I have never heard somebody pronounce the expression and the animal differently, so it's unsurprising it'd be a nation-wide eggcorn the way it is. But then, I've heard somebody pronounce the 'T' in "depot"(or "The Home Depot", rather), so there's a black swan for everything.


I always pronounce the T in depot, but then again I also pronounce both Ls in Lloyd. Just because I can. Razz
