Unfortunately it looks like you answered just a few minutes after the quote expired! spoiler[It is indeed Kariya Kagetoki from Samurai Champloo, however he's speaking here to a retainer from the shogunate, who has come to hire him to assassinate Mugen and Jin.]

(Sorry for the upcoming long PostScript) P.S. I sincerely wish that this series is more popular here in the west in general. I personally consider it a gem and whenever I hear someone on here mention it outside of news articles relating to it, I feel good inside. Maybe that's partially due to, outside of the second season, the franchise hasn't been licensed for anything. [P.P.S. 40+ episodes (still ongoing) and a movie on a series that's centered all around dirty jokes? Damn, the creator sure is creative/has lots of ideas and the studio sure loves the source material] |

The show has plenty of fans on this board (I recognised the source without hints but never got around to looking more deeply). But...
Haha, if you've read his other manga you'd know they're pretty much all exactly the same. Sub: Character A: You're just lonely because your usual partner isn't by your side, right? Character B: Shut up, A. Why is it that you want to put two guys together? Character A: Not like you'd say no to two girls getting together. Character B: There's no point if those two don't say that they like me. Character A: Yeah, okay. As a biological creature, I guess that's more natural. |
