Then again, Aniplex and Bandai have different goals, so licensing out a megahit for cheap might still be possible.

It depends on who holds the international license.
In the case of GuP, it was Showgate, so Bandai had very little say at that point.

Hmmm.... $90 for 7 episodes on Vol 1 Blu-Ray(and it includes some nice extras) or $40 for 7 episodes on DVD.

I know some will complain but I like this pricing scheme for Aniplex. If they can do a domestic release for Fate/Zero like this, I will love them.

EDIT: Looks like SAO's 4 volumes are seven, seven, five and six episodes on each. (Sorry only saw first and last volume so thought 7 for the first and 6 for the rest) And they are bilingual. I will think about buying SAO so Aniplex can do other affordable Blu-Ray releases.

EDIT2: dtm42 pointed out that I was mistaken in the exact episode counts per volume.

You can't count. They are seven, seven, five and six respectively.

But at least you didn't complain about the price . . .

You're correct. I only looked at the first and last volume so I made an incorrect assumption.

And price complaints usually comes from those believe they are entitled to $50 box sets. I know that Aniplex of America isn't interested in pricing races to the bottom and they do try for reasonably affordable options on "mainstream" shows.
