"I-It's not like I enjoy watching Sword Art Online or anything! Baka!"

Did I say it correctly?

In any case, why watch the anime when I can just read its thread on this forum, something far more entertaining?

Because you can only truely criticize something you've seen in its entirity.

Sword Art Online kinda reminds me of Code Geass. A show that everyone watches despite claiming its "Terrible", and it gets amazing scores even though its tough to find anyone that will admit they like it. Its like everyone secretly likes it but they're afraid to actually say they do.

anime#13858

Median rating: Excellent
Arithmetic mean: 8.517 (Excellent−), std. dev.: 2.1074, rank: #152 (of 5354)

This is so tasteless that it's put me off of ALL of the franchise.

I can think of a half a dozen more tasteless things that actually happened in the show.

Not to mention the unpublished, but canon, worst sex scene of all time.

Pffft, there's been way worse sex scenes than that.

I'm getting kind of bored with it now, elf designs are fugly, and there likely won't be enough dark elves. If I had to drop a score on it right now, it'd be somewhere in the low 6s. Premise has been done before, albeit this one wasn't a snoozefest, but the rest of the writing and developments haven't proven to be more exciting or intelligent. I doubt the rating will change. Above average, but not exactly "good": way too many faults and lapses in reasoning. I honestly have no idea why it's so popular other than it being so popular. A kind of popularity black hole that expands for no other reason than already being massive? Yes, overrated fits well.

I've given it an 8 so far (though I'm pretty strict with my scores and I consider a 5 average), and the only shows this year I'd consider better are Fate/Zero 2 and Dog Days'. I'm a real sucker for otaku action anime, and I feel that this show does nearly everything right in that genre. My only real issues are that the first arc kinda wrapped up a bit too quick and the episodic formula near the beginning of the series. Other than those issues, its been great.

I'd give it a 7 so far. Pretty good with plenty of entertainment value, but there are several shows currently airing that I like more.

That's because most anime fans, like most people in general, have bad taste.
