Well, now I know that we Americans aren't the only ones with a bunch of politicians with a talent for sticking their foot in their mouth in spectacular fashion. Classy.

But seriously, what a douche. I hope somebody decks him, hard. Evil or Very Mad

...because that's exactly what the people of Japan need to hear right now. God, I can't even go on DA or CNN without seeing idiocy like this, now it's spouting from the capital?

I'm stunned. I know Ishihara's said stupid crap before but this...come on, really? It's people like Yamakan who still make me some faith in humanity.

Love and peace is a nice thought, but let's face it, the world is without its wars.

...That is what Tezuka's manga had taught me, and it's practically a reality.

And, not that I support wars or anything, but I think you're going way too over the top with that post.

Over the top is what I do best.
REMEMBER THIS WORLD IS MADE OF!!!

I like the fact that he used "selfishness and greed" to discuss the Japanese people, trying to juxtapose that against the American ideal of "liberty". I'm sorry, but Americans are just as, if not more, capable of incredible selfishness and greed. Ishihara, you might want to choose a different nation with which to make your argument.

Seeing that quote, it reminds of the maniacs in the Westoboro Baptist Church, the people protesting at military funerals, claiming that the deaths of U.S. servicemen and women is divine retribution for the sins of the American citizenry. As a pessimist, I would normally say that no matter the number of ridiculous quotes this guy puts out, he would still be re-elected. But not when his leveling this after one of the nation's greatest natural disasters. I predict we'll see him burned in effigy at some point.

My God.... Really now...? Seriously?

Ya know, i'm just not understanding all the crap thats been spewing out of people's mouths these past few days about this.
Honestly, I just can not comprehend why people are saying some of the stuff i've been hearing/reading. It amazes me. And its everywhere it seems like. Not just on forums, facebook, etc. As we can see from this utter bs that's coming from an elected official but really.... just... wow.

I'm damn near speechless Confused .

The only good that could come from this is this guy's job. I only wish more people would speak up/against this guy's comments so that maybe some sort of action (like shutting him up for a good while of this ignorant kind of speech) can be done. And may him and all the other jackasses (to put it lightly) get what's most deserved.

Ugh. Just...ugh. Disgusting. I'm surprised no one decked him for that.

What is WITH these people? Do they have no understanding of how continental drift works? And he's not even using pseudoreligion as a shield, like most of the American idiots claiming this. He's just...ugh!

The only thing that surprises me about this is that he didn't try to blame the earthquake on anime and manga.

He just when beyond the imposible and topped himself with this comment. I really hope he finally gets kicked out of his office for this.
I wonder not how did he get elected, because any idiot can get elected this days, what I wonder is how hasn't he been presured to get out of it.

Ishihara must have been drinking the cool-Aid from Paul Watson the leader of the Eco-nutjobs Sea Shepherd who basically said something similar though Mr. Watson said that Japan got divine retribution becasue they mistreat the oceans.

Yamakan, I think I can say you are my hero now.
