As soon as I finish typing this note I'll get up, cross the room and pull the 3 volumes of Peepo Choo to toss in my bag for the commute to work.

As for people reading manga on trains. I was surprised my last two trips to Tokyo (fall 2011 and Dec 2012) that there seemed to be many many more folks reading manga on trains these days.

[The ending] seems like it may have been cut slightly short, indicating it wasn't a big hit, although it obviously also wasn't a total bomb either.

I thought the ending was the sign of an underdeveloped storyteller who didn't know how to finish what he had started. I agree with all of the positive things said about the manga and really enjoyed the story...until it ended. I can forgive some of the loose threads, but the one thing I couldn't stand is spoiler[ the complete lack of closure between Morimoto and Gill]. To have such a big build up and absolutely no climax left a bitter taste indeed.

Yeah, I like it, but it's definitely an abrupt ending. My guess would be that the manga was canceled and he was given two or three chapters to finish it up, and he just did the best he could.

Regarding what another poster said about whether it's an 18+ title -- it's not a full-on nothing-but-sex hentai manga like a MangErotica or Icarus title, but it's got some pretty explicit sex, lots of T&A, blowjobs, whited-out genitals, etc. It's definitely way more 18+ than most Viz titles that get rated 18+.

*sigh* I'd love to own this, but Vertical has it listed as an adult title, and my mother would kill me if she saw that cover art...

Can anyone tell me just why it is 18+? It sounds more like a fun comedy with some adult content then porn.

Where do you see that? It's certainly not an adult manga where it was originally published in Japan, and for the US release, there's no cover warning, and nothing on Vertical's page:
http://www.vertical-inc.com/books/peepochoo.html
nor Random House's page:
http://www.randomhouse.com/book/202098/peepo-choo-1-by-felipe-smith/9781934287835/
nor on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Peepo-Choo-1-Felipe-Smith/dp/1934287830/
nor on BN:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/peepo-choo-1-felipe-smith/1019168239
where anyone can buy it . . .

Right Stuf displayed a "WARNING: ADULT MATERIAL" warning when I tried to view their listing and said I had to be 18 years or older to go any further.

Hah, well to Viz, everything is either 18+ or for kids. They are hypersensitive enough to restrict the Rinne anime as 18+. And for any title they don't classify as 18+ you can safely assume it will be censored. Even Pokemon didn't escape the chopping block. So for Viz, anything rated 18+ or "Mature" is good sign.. but even then, one still can't be too sure, as titles with a Mature warning label may still be censored Mad

Anyways, enough ranting about Viz. From other titles that don't make it over, I find the kind of T&A/sex scenes are actually pretty common among risque, but non-adult manga (seinen romance and yaoi). In the US, Alan Moore's Lost Girls is more graphic, albeit such comics are not common. However, none of the movies like Eyes Wide Shut (NSFW), A Clockwork Orange, Ninja Scroll movie, or stuff on premium cable or uncut home video are 18+ either.

That seems to be Rightstuf's own decision. Ratings are all up to private discretion and I've noticed Rightstuf tends to bump the ages up for some titles. For example, Sentai rates Majikoi at 14, but Rightstuf bumps it up to 17+. I suggest using Amazon or BN.
