"Surreal and ludicrous" just doesn't seem to be adequate to describe it. You have people demanding evidence but don't seem to have any idea what evidence is. Much less rules of evidence. The prosecutor's/defense story had holes in it big enough to throw a metalmech through. No forensics on the bullet that killed Shizumu? No testimony from Quinn? Why not? This anime drove me crazy that way.
One cool thing I liked was the way Cecil can invoke a magic circle and do a spin kick on it to implement a magical cannon shot. She does that in the opening credits but not in the story until now I think.
Thank goodness it's over. It's over, right?

Well, it is a magic court. They're more interested in whether magic was used inappropriately than who shot who with what. Makise would almost certainly be better off if he could have managed to be tried in a normal court for shooting someone than a wud court for using magic for any purpose, given the prejudices.

They did say in the previous episode that there was little evidence that could be recovered, because of magic-mecha being created. I'd assume the bullet was among that.

Episode 12
One thing I had in my mind is that there should have been at least some kind of autopsy that should have proven that he was killed by a bullet, or bullets. Of course the gun and bullets probable disappeared with the mechs, but still there would have been enough. Then for evidence they could use the cop to give a listing of strange behaviour that coincided with dangerous situations and Cecil's gaining multiple powers, something unusual. Including police reports from overseas. I guess the point is that he wanted to take them by surprise, discredit her and raise his ego.
The series has been alright I guess, nothing really amazing, and pretty easy to make fun of. I personally think the best part was seeing her grow a bit, and the relationship between Cecil and Natsuna. Nothing really changed for their society in the end, in fact it might have ended up worse because the hypocrite. I guess some of the characters were interesting looking, but I am not sure how well they worked with mostly professional setting, maybe we should have seen them go out drinking or something, Cecil gets lemonade though.
Some interesting ideas, but even without taking into account last week's broadcasting problem, there were a few presentation problems. I might rate it just So-so at its problems, but bump it up to Decent for some interesting ideas and magic.

And there was no body to autopsy? Anyway, don't try to draw me in to a conversation about the "merits of the case" when it is quite clear that the Magic Court is nothing but a kangaroo court where the verdicts reflect the judge's whim and nothing else. If Cecli was blowing the judge under the bench she would win every case.

i'm pretty sure that's just the japanese court system. if this were made by the same staff but for an american audience it'd probably be considered commentary

Talking about disappearing bullets, it occurs to me to wonder what would happen if you summoned a metamoloid in the vicinity of people with pacemakers, joint replacements and other medical implants.

Another anime that pisses me off. The good guys are clueless and naive and the bad guys are organized and thorough. A very good story premise dragged down to grade school quality by pedestrian writing, soporific characterization, and banal plotting. I cannot tell if wanting to see it through to the end just to find out what Grimoire 365 is, will overcome my anger at the general cheesiness of the production. It looks gorgeous and sounds adolescent. It is drama with the soul of kiddie porn, pretty to look at and too young to engage the mind. I do not know if this had an inexperienced writer but it sure does sound like it, even with all the obvious expense of the rest of the production. A shame because it is a really great premise, bogged down by amateurish melodrama. In fact, after forcing myself to watch this, I am hesitant to start watching another series out of fear of such aggravating disappointment. A show like Wizard Barristers could turn me off from watching anime ever again. I picked it because I like watching legal and detective shows particularly the British kind. How wrong I was and what a piece of crap is Wizard Barristers.
Oh, and Grimoire 365? Summoning Lucifer? Holy cheese on a stick, that is rank amateur story line. Avoid like the plague.
