I remember there was another anime that made a joke about 'that pool' and I learned what the joke was about then, but I can't actually remember what this anime was

Probably Seitokai Yakuindomo?

Probably not, I didn't watch much of that one. I think it was something more recent.

Anyone else catch the Fahrenheit 451 reference? Bravo.

After two episodes I am sort of having fun even though I haven't experienced any LOL moments. It is possibly wasting much of its potential. Still, it gets a lot of credit for taking this premise on.

Hah, that fuggin pool. Definitely recognized that in an instant, but I wonder what the mirror truck was. Also, definitely not watching this from FUNi. I don't care if the abundance of censorship is supposed to be "the joke", but other broadcasts have less censorship so "the joke" is still preserved while not being totally obnoxious. Like the mushroom paizuri girl in the picture, FUNi's censoring that when it really doesn't even show anything.

Meh, episode 3 was boring for the first half. I didn't like that kid much in the beginning and she has a voice that sounds like a spoiled brat. Then the ending happened...

I think Anna is in either love or lust lol.
Guess we'll find out more next week.

I haven't seen the episode yet because I'm waiting for not-FUNi, but I hope you're not shit talking Satomi Arai.

I am rather enjoying this but I am wondering if the story has written a check that its ass can't cover. I've seen other movies that tried to do this and the same problem there.

How could you realistically create an environment like the one that Kajou is rebelling against? Everyone's sexual nature has to be completely suppressed from infancy. Even the science minded student (albeit a weirdo) has no idea how animals reproduce let alone humans. Which itself is an unanswered questions as to how they get that done. Technology based ectogenesis perhaps.

I am not really hung up on this but I still feel a lot of structure is missing that would make the story more interesting if it were there.

Probably just artificial insemination between the parents performed by some gov't bureau. The biggest question is, are the people at the top really controlled or are they hypocrites who wear non-functioning neacklaces? Kind of reminds me of the beginning of To Terra, but more perverted.

Maybe they hand out a manual as part of the marriage process.

The increasing turn towards romantic comedy antics is interesting since it lets them show the effects of their asexual dystopia.

On the other hand, the antics are familiar enough it almost feels like the show is mocking other series with them by imagining how repressive an environment would be necessary to have some of the standard romantic comedy shenanigans make any real sense.

It's still early enough that these details may come later on but I do share the fear that it's writing checks it can't cash.

I think it's very much by design that the show raises this question but doesn't answer it. It's trying to demonstrate how absurd and unobtainable some people's apparent goal of a society where young people have perfectly sexually "pure" minds really is, when in reality tweens and teens are quite capable of "corrupting" themselves regardless of what restrictions are imposed.

These students, who understand how other animals reproduce and are aware of what's between their own legs yet are completely and utterly baffled by porn, are supposed to be implausible to the point of outright ridiculousness. They're meant to make fun of certain activists and politicians who – often for the sake of ulterior motives, of course – seem to believe such idealized childlike innocence can be maintained all the way to legal adulthood by force of legislation. At least that's my interpretation of the show so far.

What is this, are you telling me that the Satomi Arai character in a dirty joke anime where the main character is made to join student council is not a photo taking stalker of the student president!?

This is actually kind of growing onto me. Please make Anna possibily turn into the biggest pervert because she has no idea how to direct her newfound puberty feelings because she has been so repressed.

I am thinking like Seitokai Yakuindomo now, that show took me a little bit to really get into, but it worked best when it totally did not take any actual fanservice seriously, and kind of show content crudely. It kind of went along the way of asking what the harm, and things are natural. But despite being so silly and "trashy", this show seems to occasionally have something to say.

For me, as a supposed comedy, this has been a huge miss.
I don't think I have even cracked a smile at the tourettes like outbursts of beeped words.
I am still hanging around, but just out of some odd desire to hear the reasoning by those in power of instigating and perpetuating all this.
Some interesting comparison to recent events can be drawn, but the 'comedy' is falling flat for me.
