Hmmm...interesting. It doesn't look as though they are actually disapproving of anything or trying to get anything banned...They're just making sure it's not being marketed in such a way that it falls into the hands of the wrong people. Nothing to see here people...move along.

Awesome, thanks for the list ANN.
Not sure why the hell they decides to report on shit like this; it's barely even relevant to anime, certainly not to the anime industry circle-jerking they usually deal in. Must be some kind of crusade against loli. ANN should just die already. More importantly why the hell are they taking news articles about this out of context? Trusted news site my ass, I don't trust a word these idiots let dribble out of their oversized mouths, and niether should you. The internet's most trusted anime propoganda website. O RLY? Figured this out all by themselves did they? Perhaps after this blows over we could put them to work on the task of finding water when one falls out of a boat. BTW: Child Molester Party II but not Child Molester Party I? I guess the series must have gotten worse as it progressed /sarcasm |

No one held a gun to your head to come here, Lotus Blossom -- you came of your own volition. If'n you don't like their reporting, start your own damn website. |

Actually I don't read the "news" they "report" here at all, I just popped in because someone linked me to the article and I thought I'd share my thoughts on just how lame ANN is for posting it. I don't see why I should have to go and make my own website just to express disagreement with this one. |

I just looked at the list. Don't tell me the publishers of these mangas are pedophiles. IMO, people who don't have a fetish for kiddie porn would ever publish something like that that breaks the law due to the fact that minors are too young to be involved in sexually charged themes like sexual acts and sexualized nudity. So pedophilia can be dangerous at times.

If even the Japanese print media is reporting on this, and it is manga, how is it not relevant?
Would an entire website "crusading" against loli report on a new Yuri magazine that advertises itself as featuring "girls only"?
What context? How are they taken out of context? |

The list was compiled not because they were manga that featured depictions of sexual acts between female minors, but because they were not sufficiently labled for the 18+ market, causing concern that younger people might get access to them. >>If even the Japanese print media is reporting on this, and it is manga, how is it not relevant? It is manga yes, but it is hentai manga. Hentai is a huge industry in Japan that stands in its own right, and I rarely see ANN report on the latest H-game release or hentai anthology. >>Would an entire website "crusading" against loli report on a new Yuri magazine that advertises itself as featuring "girls only"? How is that even relevant to loli? I don't recognise any of those titles as featuring such content. You must be seriously confused. |

Washi_:
I appologise if I put words in your mouth here, but if I understand you correctly, youre angry because ANN and/or the majority of its members are anti-pedophile? Also that ANN posts "propaganda" to try and make pedophilia appear bad? Firstly, If you are a pedophile and think thats okay w/e. I certainly dissagree but I guess its your choice. However if youre gonna get all angry because most people think its wrong I think youre being totally unrealistic. Also, I hardly think most people need any manipulation of information to make pedophila appear bad. I dont really see how the context you mention (which I believe they did mention in the original article) makes a difference. If anything it makes this seem worse because in addition this stuff is made available to children. Also, the reason they dont report on the Hentia issues you mention is they are minor. Its not like here theyre reporting every little loli manga released or something. If there was to be some kind of conterversy around Hentai there I think it would be reported. To be fair though, the original article never mentions that it was looking at shoujo manga. That was a different article.
You are right on this one. The article does say "As in the similar but unrelated investigation in Osaka, the concern lies in publication covers that do not indicate the presence of the explicit material within." With titles like that, is an 18+ tag really necessary? But again, to be fair, the article did say the issue was "their allegedly easy availability in bookstores and convenience stores."
Indeed. It's ironic considering that the issue is supposedly that the covers gave no indication of the pornographic and/or underage material within. And yet they can only find 13 titles and only ones with the most blatantly obvious titles. |

The concern that parents and the general public has for printed and visual media that depicts children in sexual situations is very similar from country to country. However something unique to Japan is that their policy of restricting freedom of artistic expression is more emphasized at the end-user level rather than at the source like it is in North America. So all of you who ask, how does this stuff even get published or sold? is simply because: it does.
Supply and demand works a bit different in Japan with pretty much a lack of government and social intervention to what artists and writers produce. All the manga on this list is just a piece of it. Yes there are worse things, yes there are things involving male minors too. But when there is a voice out there that speaks for what they feel is right, they also are free to do so and it's easier to fight against an enemy when you are very specific towards what you are fighting against. |

Uh, the original article mentioned that.
Again, the same is true for the Japanese print media, but it reported on this news piece for a reason. ANN seems to focus on anime and manga news, not game news.
Uh, this is a new magazine with new titles. The reason you don't recognize the new titles is that they just came out today. The magazine will be different from the authors' previous titles, because again, the magazines advertises itself as a "yuri" magazine with "girls only." |
