This was a neat interview, and it's interesting hearing the perspectives from both voice actresses on their character.

Of course, Zac just had to ask a shipping question. Nice that Yui enjoyed Trina's performance from what Yui could watch.

I can't wait for season 3 to come out. Both the voice actresses are talented.

Great interview!

Although admittedly, I only heard Mikasa's English voice and haven't gotten to hear her Japanese counterpart. But I plan on doing so in the near future.

Very cool interview, thanks!
I find it interesting that both actors mention that they don't like reading ahead in the source material so they can feel "in the moment" when they record their scenes. This seems counter intuitive to me, since I would think knowing about future events in the series could influence acting choices in earlier scenes--for example, if you knew by reading ahead that your character was keeping a big secret, wouldn't you want to reflect that by foreshadowing through your acting in earlier scenes before the reveal?
But this isn't the first time I've heard of a "no spoilers" acting prep strategy. Way back when the first Fullmetal Alchemist series was airing on Toonami, Travis Willingham (Roy Mustang) was asked if he watched the Japanese version, and he said basically the same thing--he didn't want to know about future events in the series because it might influence his ability to act "in the moment" of the scenes he was currently taping.
I still don't quite get it, but these actors are brilliant, so they know what they're doing, and they do a great job! (Also, I don't think Mikasa is capable of keeping a secret, unless maybe Eren's life depended on it! Razz)

Looking forward to season 3! I feel for you, Trina! Not looking ahead in the manga when you want to know what will happen next is a sacrifice only an artist can make! Very Happy (You'll love it when you get to it, hopefully!)

I can only imagine how much of an honor it can be when a dub VA hears their counterpart, the Japanese director, or even the creators giving their blessing. It is also nice to know that both Mikasa VA either ship Eren/Mikasa or would like for that ship to work out.

I was hoping there was picture between the two VAs.

I wonder how much English Yui-san knows. Obviously, she knew enough to understand watching the English dub on TV. Another thing is that she was incorrect about not having the English version in Japan, unless she meant official releases and not counting bootlegs or reverse imports.

Yeah this was great.

I've heard Trina's more since I've watched the English version multiple times now on Toonami and the blu-rays but I love them both as Mikasa so it was cool reading an interview where they were both there talking about their same character. Smile

Can't wait for season 3!

Yeah, that was cool to see in the interview.

Hehe yeah, also that was indeed a good scene at the end of season 2.
