In many ways, this is an end of an era. Say what you want about it, this particular series will always remain one of my all-time favorites.

I really hope that now that "Ranma 1/2" is over, Viz would start releasing "Urusei Yatsura" manga again.

Oh GOD yes. I've been waiting for them to finish that series for 5 years.

I would be happy to buy Urusei Yatsura, but I would also be happy to buy new "unflipped" editions of Ranma.

Wouldn't it be hilariously tragic if they censored the final volume?

One of the best manga ever indeed, I've been rereading it for years and it never gets old.

Took Viz long enough, but atleast the translation was pretty decent most of the way through.

It would be somethingly tragic, alright. I'd throw a big censorship party and we'd all just get hammered and cry. Anyone wanna come?

A fantastic Anime, an ever better manga.

it took them forever, but It's good to see it come to in end.
I'm sure they will be reprinting the whole freaking thing for years to come.

It took long enough. Jeez, even with the faster release, it's at least ten years after it originally ended in Japan. I feel sorry for the newbie American fans who are gonna be stuck with that open
ending, and saying, "WTF?! I waited for this?!" Makes me glad I stopped early on when the material got stale. Oh well, maybe now Viz will have time to bring back their Takahashi Rumik World stuff.

Rumiko and her silly Ranma ending. I pray for Inuyashers and Kagomay.

Look! Ranma 1/2 isn't exactly your Fullmetal Alchemist type of plot-driven title. Its a comedy! Did you really expect spoiler[Akane to marry Ranma? did you really expect Ranma turn back to normal?] I mean the ending wasn't exactly spectacular. An open ending is exactly what we would expect for the series like Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura. Also, considering how many characters there are in Ranma..... and I mean A LOT.... I think Takahashi sensei did quite a good job wraping it up.

See, if this was your standard one or two year long comedy; an open ending would be perfectly acceptable. But spending SO many years with Ranma 1/2 (like I and many others have), you expect SOME sort of closure. Cross that; Ranma 1/2 had nearly no closure whatsoever!
As Gatsu said, many people would say "WTF, I waited for this?!" at the ending (which was, pretty much, my exact reaction as well. When I got bored of the series, I cheated and looked at the ending of the Japanese original).

Wow, it's been 11 years? Jeez, I thought it was longer then that.

Viz picking up Urusei Yatusra manga? I gave up on that pipe dream a long time ago. Crying or Very sad

Unlike you, I didn't get sick series. I wasn't reading it to find out how it ended. I guess if I did, I'd hate the ending, too. But Ranma 1/2 is an episodic (or whatever the manga term for that is) comedy series. It's not Maison Ikkoku or Inuyasha, stories that NEED a proper ending. To me this type of series doesn't really need any closure. I don't think the ending ruined the series, if anything it went right along with it.

I disagree. I personally found both endings to be very disappointing and vague. I think abit of closure could have been achieved despite the bizarre characters and situations.

Yes it finally ends; after what seems like an eternity. It shall be a bittersweet day once I get my hands on that final volume.
