Wow a full year. That's kind of crazy.

Not surprised, but still a little sad as the wait time goes up.

As a CC/DC fan, I can tell you an April release will guarantee high box office, so I can understand why instead of releasing it in the later in the year, delaying until next April is more logical because the CC/DC theatrical releases is key to revenue generation for the entire franchise. They cannot release it later this year with an unpredictable turnout.

Given movie 24 also appears to be related to the Olympics (it's called World Sports Game in the trailer but seriously), which has also been delayed to 2021, it does not come as surprise that they chose to release it next year instead of this year.

These days, the theatrical releases usually have a little bit of tie-up with the manga story line. I want the manga to keep moving regardless as we are approaching a critical point in the story. But it is highly likely that Aoyama will not update as often this year mirroring the previous two years. Instead, the two spin-off series, Zero's Tea Time and the Police Academy will get more updates instead.

Yeah, most likely. I wonder if the anime staff will decide to try animating "specials" for the two spin-offs, like how the MK chapters got specials back in 2010-2012 prior to MK1412's anime. But then again, they haven't even touched any of the Detective Conan Special chapters since episode 113.

Zero's Tea Time has enough materials for at least 5 22min episodes. But not the Police Academy. However, I think the production team is content without adapting these things.

If the TV anime starts back up on a semi-regular schedule, maybe they'll use the movie staff to write more higher quality TV anime originals, Like they did with the YaibaXGomera 4-parter they did earlier this year. Some team will probably also be tasked to eventually adapt Zero's Tea Time, one would think.

Aside from Zeros Tea Time, there's also the Hanazawa-san spin off. It's really good and has enough content for a few eps aswell, but I'm not sure how well that style of comedy would fit into Conan's timeslot.

Also, they could adapt Magic Kaito's Sun Halo chapters into a 2-parter, those weren't adapted in any anime yet.
