I have yet to learn what this manga is actually about, because every time there's news about it all the article says is "it won a reality show."

If you're really curious you can read it. The manga is free and on viz as of today.

Just a rough thing after reading it - About a person who kinda has his dreams shattered and learns to pick up the pieces and learn to love what he does again. I enjoyed the first chapter.

I have mixed feelings about it, because on the one hand it has a lot of empathy for the very familiar experience of carrying those shattered dreams, for pain and failure and trauma… spoiler[and then it seems to imply that what such people really need is to be shamed and berated into getting off their asses, because tough love or something]. Which I guess makes it fit very well into manga-world and in particular Jump-world; I've noticed Taiki Inomata and Maki Zenin have both had lines to the effect that they spoiler[would hate themselves if they weren't always trying as hard as they possibly could, which to me invites the question of whether people who aren't constantly giving 110% deserve to be hated].

Pretty impressive for a first time work. We´ll see how Jump-y it is soon enough. SJ+ (or SQ) manga can be all over the place in terms of content and could easily fit a Seinen or female demographic magazine.

Bakuman, which this is reminiscent of, was very influential btw. It´s Just do it attitude is why Suu Morishita became a mangaka duo for example. Both were adults and I think already married when they decided that friendship and hard work is a workable foundation to get you published if you really go for it. Real careers began through Youtube, Twitter or Nico Nico Douga by people with zero professional experience or art school background. One Punch Man and Uncle from Another World say hello.

That’s not quite what happens. The main character effectively has a spoiler[near death experience. Its a little bit of a riff off those “I died and went back in time to fix my mistakes” manga.] I liked it and the FMC was pretty interesting as well.

Fun first chapter, it'll be interesting to see how the MCs riff off each other.

It's a bit rough around the edges, but you can feel there's something good about it. Speaking from the first chapter at least.

I don't think it makes that much of a difference. spoiler[Just add "terrorized" to "shamed and berated". It's just more cruelty that she inflicts because she despises his weakness, and the end result implies that it was a good thing.]

The first half of the debut wasn't really doing much for me and felt kind of dismal, but the second half got pretty strong and hooked me. Going to keep my eye on this one.
