Man I hope Crunchyroll is looking at all these strikes and union talks all over the entertainment industry and sweating bullets.

Crunchyroll is already a part of the big entertainment industry anyway - it belongs to Sony Pictures.

Lots of silent protagonists, recasts and sub-only releases incoming if no contract is agreed upon. The SAG doesn't have same leverage it does over AMPTP in this situation.

Aren't most anime voice actors non-union though? Sure there's a bunch that aren't, but it feels like there's enough that it wouldn't have a big effect on new productions at least. Same likely would go for smaller game studios like NISA.

These strikes are never gonna end, are they? At this rate, the entertainment industry feels like it’s already escalating into an all-out war against itself!

given the current state of the industry.. I doubt it. Most if not all AAA games "aside from a few handful of standouts" are relegated to the clearance bin 4-5 months later.

From my understanding, Crunchyroll is vehemently anti-union, so it doesn't surprise me that a large number of English voice actors (including those who have worked for Crunchyroll in recent English dubs) are non-union. I still remember the news that Mob's voice actor in the English dub's final season of Mob Psycho would be someone other than Kyle McCarley. The decision was incredibly last minute, and I believe it was caused by a dispute related to Kyle wanting Crunchyroll to at least meet with union representatives (even if they declined to support unionization in the end). I don't remember if he quit voluntarily or if he was fired, but for the main character's actor to change just before the final season aired was shocking to say the least.

Isn't this just about English VAs and not the games themselves? I expect its more about things like the Persona 3 english cast being replaced due to money reasons.
Although the writers strike is is also happening, but I doubt that will lead to better TV shows either. It's just about being paid more, not making a better product. None of these really affect me though since I only watch and play Japanese games these days.

The WGA strike is not "just about being paid more," although better rewarded creators do tend to lead to better creations. The concerns of the writers, as well as screen actors and voice actors, also include reining in misuse of artificial intelligence, better work conditions, and access to health care — as noted in the article.

If the actors do go on strike, they have my support. People deserve a fair compensation for the work they do.
