I would probably watch some Japanese live action TV if it was more easily available. Now that AZN is gone from my Comcast line up I don't really have a source for them, and even then they rarely showed them with subtitles so I never understood much of the dialogue.

I guess I could always watch stuff on YouTube, but I don't really like watching shows on my computer so I can't imagine following a whole series that way.

This ought to yield fun results. I'm sure where going to get a few people who might admit their horrible past time. "but but, I thought that only applied to the animes!!!"

Seriously, i'd love to see the live action Sailor Moon or Negima. But it will never happen legally. I also wish I could see Kimi wa pet.

If a show is popular enough I say they pick up the live action version too.

I think there need to be some more options. I don't watch any live-action Japanese TV shows, but I have bought and watched a few movies. However, they weren't related to anime/manga. They were horror/sci-fi mostly.

Parasite Eve is probably the closet to anime/manga, but that's a video game connection.

Have they changed the survey already? As movies and television shows were listed separately (and whether or not they were anime-related) when I took it.

As for me, I watch quite a few Japanese movies without any relation to anime. My viewing of non-anime related dramas is a bit limited (as is my anime-related viewing--I think PGSM is the extent, as Meteor Garden is Taiwanese), but I did use to watch Love Revolution and other shows back in the days of the International Channel.

I've watched more live action than anime for several years now. I'll be following the releases of Macross Frontier though.

Mod note: we don't allow links to torrent sites here, you should know better than that.

I watch more dorama than anime also. (I watch korean, japanese, and taiwan live action doramas) And stuff like the live action sailor moon or negima are not representative of a regular Japanese live action series Anime smile; They are more like... novelty shows or something Smile And yeah, it's all about d-addicts and YesAsia (YesAsia has licensed a bunch of Korean dramas, it's awesome). Dramas are easy to find with english subs.

Recently my family watched a show called "The Family" starring Kimura Takuya. It goes to show the Japanese have some very good show ideas as well, and they're not limited to trying to adapt from anime or manga shows.

I would very much agree with this. None of my top 5 j-drama are adapted from Manga or Anime (Though Kisarazu Cat's eye makes a large # of references). I think I currently have watched around 80-90 dramas or so.

I would say though that 2007 was kind of a bum year for j-drama, aside from the spring season :/

Erm... fun scenario, but there's many perfectly legal ways to enjoy Japanese live action content without downloading it, and have been for years. I doubt the more fervent opponents of downloading copyrighted material look upon it any more kindly for not being anime.

Actually, it was my beloved chanbara movies that re-awakened my slumbering interest anime in the late 90's when I'd gone through every VHS jidaigeki movie that Suncoast had. Now I get my fix via the Voom Kung Fu HD on Dish. Other stuff I get on DVD (Godzilla FTW), and saw both Death Note movies at Fantastic Film Fest last year.

The only live action TV series I've seen is the Shinsengumi drama from a couple years back. Now I'm looking forward to the Media Blasters release of the Lone Wolf and Cub series, which I'll buy. I'll probably eventually download the live action Nodame Cantabile too, since I have no reason to hope that anyone will ever sell it to me.

Showtime (I think it's Showtime; I admit I don't really pay attention to the channels) has put on several Japanese live action movies from time to time: Onmyoji I & II, Ju-On, Gozu, Kibakichi, Pyrokinesis/Crossfire, Heaven & Earth, Ichi the Killer, Zatoichi, etc.

Greater variety would be nice, of course, and some of those movies are quite old. And a couple are outright stinkers. But still, you can find at least a sampling of live action here and there without having to download anything.

Plan on seeing all of Kurosawa's films but can't say I really want to see any of the live action adaptations of popular anime or manga. Well, maybe the Train Man adaptation.

Well I answered yes, but compared to everything else that I watch it is very small. I wish there was an option for yes but only a little. Kinda feel bad now.
