Isn't she like the poster child for the "Author who fell from grace because of an over-inflated ego and lack of editors" archetype?

Pretty much.

I enjoyed the first novel. After that, things got all strange (in a bad way) and stupid. Especially when she made Lestat a spoiler[rapist].

I am confused and I'm sorry if I am being ignorant but....what does Anne Rice have to do with Anime/Manga? Did I miss something here?

Comic Cons aren't just about anime/manga.

I am fully aware....but since this is Anime News Network, a site dedicated to news for Anime and Manga, I was wondering what the relation was. That's all.

They get a press release and they print it. Anne Rice is a pretty big name so I can see why. But yeah, I've seen far worse PRs on ANN at least.

I was more just curious then anything. I like Anne Rice's vampire books so I got nothing against the article. Just was wondering if she did something Anime/Manga related and if I somehow missed such news. Anime hyper

Still doesn't explain how Anne Rice is even remotely related to Anime, Manga, or even Video Games. I could see if she was doing some new project with some anime studio over her works.......

Well, she likes to write about feminine men with vaguely homoerotic subtext, so that's kind of anime/manga related.

Well...Yen Press published a graphic novel based on Claudia. And Udou Shinohara once did a 1 volume manga adaptation of Interview with the Vampire called Yoake no Vampire.

Therefore, we have a connection. Sorta.

Does that mean we get to have PRs for every time Stan Lee goes to a convention? His connection is much more substantial.

If the convention that Stan Lee is attending sends a press release to ANN to be printed, most likely.

I'm guessing the Six Degrees is simpler:

Anne Rice --> New York Comic Con --> New York Anime Festival --> Anime News Network

It's a large event that consists of anime/manga to a pretty large degree. Anne Rice is a big name that is going to have a lot of draw for the event and could be considered relevant for those interested in attending, even if their focus is anime. Not to mention she is an influential writer whose influence can be seen globally.

If, for whatever reason, people wish to voice concern in regards to the articles appearance on the site then feel free to do so in the Feedback forum. Aside from that, let's try to keep this threads focus on the author and her appearance, influence, etc.
