How come the interviewer didn't ask if she's allergic to machines, as well?

I'd ask her if she likes being Mamiko Noto's replacement.

doubt it will ever happen considering it very personal. though i definitely liked her as sachi who personally is my fav side character on SAO and unfortunately got the short end of the stick from the author.nearly stopped watching the series after that until after both yui appeared & the start of fairy dance.

it reminded me way too much of how yufie got axed which peeved me to no end.

Is in reference to her sounding similar or did she actually replace Mamiko Noto in something?

I use to call her "Budget Mamiko Noto" but in 2014 she finally did some work that I felt pushed her into her own finally. Though, in Eden of the East she sounded pretty unique...not sure what happened since after that she really did just sound like a budget Mamiko Noto.

This was my favorite part of SAO and was far more heartbreaking to me than Mother's Rosario

It's not so much that she's getting better, but that I'm noticing Noto in fewer and fewer roles and her in more. I think she's getting typecast into the sort of roles Noto used to be. RDG would have absolutely been a Noto gig if this were a few years ago.

Shame the interview was so brief, but it's cool she has such a great mom.

I had never thought of her as sounding like Mamiko Noto until you just pointed it out. I can see why one would think that.

Hayami has been getting a lot of big roles lately and I think she deserves it. If she really did that rant from Inou Battle in one take without any rehersals then even more so.

There are times when I can tell her voice apart from Noto Momiko's, and there are times when if I don't check the Cast listing, I won't know.

For me, it is like that with Hanazawa Kana and Tamura Nao (which, coincidentally, both currently play in the same anime, World Trigger; Hanazawa as Kitora Ai, Tamura as Amatori Chika)

Aside from her role in Fairy Tail, I think I have started noticing her only in 2014: Mangaka-san to Assistant-san, Glasslip (even if the anime wasn't really good), Soul Eater Not and Inou Battle-wa... (although this one kinda ruined Saori Hayami for me. She was TOO good in this role and now whenever I hear "wakaranai" from her characters I'm losing it.).

Oh, and I guess her role in Mahouka is memorable as well, but from the bad side, ao nevermind this one.

Anyway, she is really talanted

Bit rude, don't you think?

____

Great interview, if a bit brief. I really should keep up with the various voice actors and actresses. Pretty much I just go "hey, this person sounds familiar. Let me go on Google... Oh, I know them! They also played this character from that other thing. Cool." And then I forget their names again. I follow directors more than actors/actresses, although that has slowly been changing. Looking over Hayami's list of roles I've liked her work quite a bit. It's kind of cute how she was so nervous about actually becoming an actress, just leaving the flyer on the table and whatnot.

The first series I recall hearing her in are both Sora no Manimani and Sora no Otoshimono.

Saori's in her mid-twenties and Mamiko's in her mid-thirties and since younger actresses tend to get more work than older ones, Mamiko has been getting cast less and less. It's unfortunate, but that's just the way the industry operates.

While I agree that Saori does get cast in a lot of similar roles, I'd say that she's very successfully avoiding typecasting, as she seems to be voicing a wider range of roles than what Mamiko was typically typecast as. It's ridiculous how similar they sound at times, though. I watched the entirety of Gochuumon wa Usagi desu ka? thinking that Mamiko was voicing Aoyama, only to later find out that it was Saori.

I think I really started noticing her with Aila Jyrkianen in Gundam Build Fighters. Something about her delivery is just kind of hilarious to me. It's like she'll say whatever with such a crisp and matter of fact voice that it might as well just be the truth and it seems like a reasonable idea to go along with it. That's the only way I can describe it is she has a very refined way of delivering her lines.

In general she definitely seems to get cast in a lot of Yamato Nadeshiko character roles where there's a sort of quiet strength aspect that her voice is pretty much tailor made to nail. For a while it seemed like she kept getting cast in roles of characters that die early on in a story and have a profound impact on the male lead like Sachi in SAO or Yurin in Gundam AGE but seems to have found her stride as a bonafide leading lady of late.

I also enjoyed her performance in GBF. Pretty brief interview but she comes off as nice and down to earth.
