Remind me of the Miraculous Ladybug cgi cartoon. I tend to dislike cgi but the soft and fluffy marshmallow look I seeing in some cgi animation is something I enjoy seeing.

I'd like too imagine it's "Boo" from Monsters Inc. all grown up. Japanese animation studios definitely have the ability to produce terrific CG animation; it's only the attempts at integrating it with 2D that are distractingly awful.

The art and animation were solid, though conceptually and pacing-wise it seemed a bit par for the course for these kinds of shorts. It would be nice to see more 3d animation like this to come out of Japan, since other attempts at anime style or realistic CG often come across a bit boxy/robotic/uncanny, when more flowy and expressive styles like this one seem to generally work out better.

The animation and designs were good, but the story, generally as whole but specifically the climax and resolution, are a wasted opportunity-- even if it's attempting to operate as a comedy there is no punchline. Also the sound design is spotty in some areas, especially when the character is using the washing machine and when she first enters her fantasy.
But, if this is a student film/indie film with the primary intention of getting the filmmakers positions in film, animation, or the games industry, it works very well. 3 people splitting modelling, rigging, animation, simulations, lighting, and editing shows that each person likely has competence in several departments of commercial CG work-- and being a generalist is more valuable in most, commonly smaller studios than being a specialist in one department. With some work on their acting choices/posing they could animate wherever they want to. |

This definitely is a step or several above the 3-D CGI I commonly see in works from Japan, but I wouldn't say it's quite at Pixar level, maybe closer to Blue Sky or Animal Logic. Those have phenomenally larger budgets and staff too.
I can imagine the people who work on this will be getting better work in the near future though. |

Excellent short film. Personally am not too big of a fan of 3DCG, but I can understand its appeal. From what I understand, especially in the US, cartoons have the stigma of being seen as a "children's medium" and live-action films as more "adult". Therefore, in order to broaden their target demographics, animation studios have moved to 3DCG to try to capture the best of both worlds.

These folks show some real promise. The part where she's charging in is impressive and they have a good sense for how to use her expressions.
It's not on the usual level of Pixar's shorts, but I'd definitely vote for it over "Lava" (the one that was included with Inside Out). |

This is really nice. As CG animation advances you can expect more work like this. Hoping that this little short may inspire a full length film. That's what usually happens. There was a film like that but I can't remember. It started off as a short and then they extended it into a feature film But that happens to just about every animated project.
