Mangaka, Scriptwriter, DJ Daisuke Nishijima Launches Idol Project

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Manga artist, scriptwriter, and DJ Daisuke Nishijima launched an idol project titled "Mayowigo." The project's "Future Tech Super Idol Audition" are set to start.

Nishijima plans to produce 12 music CDs and a full-color manga titled Mayowigo: Hoshi no Kioku no Monogatari (lit. Lost Child: The Story of the Star's Memory). The selected idols will appear at talk events, concerts, and in the manga itself.

The "Future Tech Super Idol Audition" event is planned jointly with retailer Chara-Ani, music publisher and talent management company Rocket Base, radio broadcaster Nippon Cultural Broadcasting, talent agency Linkmark, and label VIDEOTHINK. The winning participants will serve as campaign promoters for Chara-Ani's 20th anniversary and do voice acting work.

Contestants can also apply to join three other idol groups at the same audition. The already established "Summer Rocket" idol group will accept third phase members, the literary-themed group "Hon to Utatane" will accept members with plans to start as soon as April, and finally "MIC RAW RUGA" is a female rap group looking for even inexperienced members to join.

Nishijima has worked as a writer and filmmaker since the 1990s before making his manga debut with the series Ōson Sensō in 2004. He won the Best Artist award at the 2004 Seiun Awards for his work on the manga Sekai no Owari no Mahōtsukai (The Witch at the End of the World). He is also active in the music industry under the name DJ Mahōtsukai.
