There's seven chapters in this classic tankoubon, with each girl more buxom than the last! Coach Himeko from "Swim Club Elegy" might strike your fancy, her generous jugs barely concealed by her competition swimsuit. They'll serve as excellent motivation for swim club member Manabu, as he struggles with the confidence he needs to ask out Himeko's younger sister?! Or maybe you're more into Manami from "All Insertions", Yusuke's childhood friend with massive melons straight out of one of his favorite pornos. Lucky for Yusuke, she loves porn as wellher favorite part is the moment the guy sticks it in, and she cant wait to try it out with him! But if size is the only thing that matters to you, then you'll love Yumi from "Kilos of Consequences" and her weight gain-fueled explosion in bust size! Lucky for her, she's dating the perfect man who loves ladies with some meat on their bones and he wants nothing more than to see her brand-new body spilling out of her old bikini!

B-Chiku is striking to me by virtue of it being from 2008. With almost 20 years between its original publishing and now, you'd expect the art to be heavily dated—to say nothing of the writing. And yet, DISTANCE's artwork is almost completely contemporary. You wouldn't know this was a compilation of older works. While B-Chiku is a completely episodic anthology, each of its stories are charming and even a little funny. Though I do wish we had some follow up on at least some of them—especially since the very first chapter (“Fräulein Assault”) ends on such a cliffhanger. What we're left with are a ton of goofy stories about sexually frustrated women and their eager partners, all enjoying some good, not-so-clean fun without worrying about the consequences.

On the one hand, DISTANCE isn't very good at drawing a variety of body types; all of the women in B-Chiku are fairly interchangeable with swappable heads. “Kilos of Consequences” suffers from this the most, given that the female lead in that chapter is supposed to have been putting on weight; she's otherwise indistinguishable from the other characters, outside of two panels that emphasize her pudge. But DISTANCE knows what they're about: plump, squishy bodies. There's a ton of detail and ardor in DISTANCE's artwork; you can almost feel why these guys are so obsessed with their girlfriends. DISTANCE mentions in the Afterword that B-Chiku was their eighteenth book, in total; clearly, they had things nailed down to a science.

B-Chiku is a bit shallow on plot, but its stellar art and phenomenal energy more than makes up for it. It's great that we finally have something from DISTANCE available in the US, this one gets a strong recommendation from me (assuming the reader is of age, of course).

An average guy finds himself suddenly married to a yakuza “princess.” A student and teacher have sex, a girl's baseball team president gets worked up listening to her team talking about sex with their boyfriend. Swim club onee-san seduces the guy who likes her sister, a guy finds the his girlfriend extra sexy now that she's a little chubby, a study session gets heated. Classic scenarios, which makes me think about how hard (no pun intended) it is to write porn. It's almost not worth the effort to create an original story when the point is just to get someone off, but the story has to be original enough to have some novelty.

DISTANCE puts a lot of time into the art, with detailed, and sort-of realistic renderings of genitalia that somehow look and behave almost completely not like the way women's body parts behave. But it definitely took a long time to draw all that and I have a lot of respect for someone who cared enough to try and render 3-dimensional art in a 2-dimensional space with such time and attention.

Once again, we find that pornography of this kind is much more a masturbatory tool, rather than a narrative. Most of the primary characters are given names and a situation is applied, no development of story or characters needed. The sex is the squishy bodily-fluidy kind, with lots of plooshes and splorts, which are lettered with skill. I found the sound effects lettering in this book more captivating than the scenes they filled. There is time and attention paid to this detail as well, so kudos to Vadim K. for their stellar work.

Everything else in this book is rather pedestrian porn fantasy, without anything to distract one's attention from the fact that having ones breasts squeezed that hard looks and is extremely painful, rather than sexy. And of course all women have near-identical bodies. All genitalia look exactly the same, obviously.

B is for “Boyoing,” which is the sound boobs make when popping out of a bathing suit. Not really, but it might as well be. (Pro tip: Breasts do not make noise.)

This is a collection of stories that don't necessarily have a consistent theme to them. Pretty much all of them are about consenting adults who are put in situations where they engage in sex with may be a slight caveat to them. Maybe one wants to try getting creampied by their boyfriend for the first time or another could be about a teacher crossing the line with a student in order to cheer them up. Outside of maybe the first chapter, which is just ridiculous in its premise, there isn't really a lot of uniqueness to any of the setups in these stories.

I think what it lacks in creativity, it makes up for in style. DISTANCE does have a very particular way of portraying sex, visually and with dialogue. They definitely like to focus on the dirtier aspect of sex like the wet and sticky liquids the body gives off or the pungent smells. Multiple characters point out the sour taste or smell that comes with performing oral on each other, and almost all the sex scenes end with liquids dripping everywhere.

The characters' designs do suffer a little bit from same face, but I kind of like how rubbery and springy everything looks. There are no hard edges here, everybody looks nice and soft. There are some moments where the sex scenes are a bit unintentionally funny, though, as the more rubbery and springy features of the characters mean that they can do things that I don't think are possible like wiggling the dick inside of a woman like it's some kind of top. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before. This book does get the job done, even if it's not anything super impressive on paper.
