Yeah, there's gotta be a name for that sort of logical fallacy. Reverse slippery slope? "We might as well all be at the bottom already, so no sense not greasing up the whole hill for everyone." Sheesh.

I think that one was at midnight or a little bit after.

Stone of Sisyphus
Trying to do something that is essentially impossible, in the story of Sisyphus pushing a large bolder up a hill where even a moment's hesitation and the stone rolls back to the bottom again.
That's the problem here for Japan ... and the rest of Humanity as well.
Humans are really really really good a believing in seemingly impossible things, they will be successful at doing any of them that are not truly impossible.
Keeping children from learning about or practicing sex before an arbitrary age? That is truly impossible.

Yay! For once, I actually AGREE with their complaints! Shows like this shouldn't even be made at all!

Seems like banning "A Serbian Film" because the characters swear a lot. |
Not too surprising. I haven't watched the series, but at a guess that's either the most explicit example of objectionable material, or is the easiest to explain of the objectionable material.
As for those that think this objection is stupid, and are talking about how people can look up porn on the internet, what you are basically saying is "People can look up porn on the internet, so let's just broadcast it during prime time television."

The BIG problem here is the timeslot and the fact that this show's timeslot is 10:30 boggles the mind. For reference, there are innocuous shows out there like Non Non Biyori, and Non Non gets 26:00 (TV-MX), 26:30 (TV-Aichi) and 27:00 (TV-Osaka) timeslots respectively.

Depends on the explicitness, of the "porn". Here in Blighty, we have OfCom (Office of Communications) Sort of like the FCC, which as a set time called the "watershed" which is a line in the scheduling when adult orientated content can begin to appear, or be heard or both. it's set at 2100. the level of "adult content" escalates as the hour progresses into and past 0000, or 2400 of a broadcast day. The ethos is parents can allow their children to watch content after the watershed, but because they are warned in advanced, it is their responsibility to police what their children watch and not watch and so have no grounds for complaints if they find it too offensive. But having said that it is a bit redundant now apart from legislatively "covering one's arse" as most children have unlimited access to the intarweb with all it's content, with some even contributing to the availability for fun, and/or profit. So when middle schooler Suzuka's parent, or parents are blissfully glad that she isn't pestering them to change channels, they are also possibly blissfully unaware she is making an income for her Bit-coin account masturbating in front of her webcam in her bedroom,,,,allegedly.

Wait, 10pm is considered a time for junior and high school kids to watch TV in Japan? Also, "25:30" and "26:00" just sounds ridiculous xD. Dayum Japan, you be cray cray.

Ever heard of cram schools?
10:00 (22:00) is pretty much the only time they get to watch TV after eating and doing their homework.

Those time indicators are known as "broadcast day" which starts at 0600, not 0000. some cram schools can run into early morning next day, like 0200 especially close to exam times.

I hope people use PDRs in Japan, because there's no way in hell I could stay up to watch anime. I remember all those years back when YTV used to air a bunch of anime on friday(?) night. I was only in middle school at the time, so back then I usually had to tape them using blank VHS tapes. Sometimes I'd wake up the next morning, put in the tape, and be like "What, YTV restarted Inuyasha again?! Son of a B****!"
I'll be honest, I have been watching "Recently, my sister is unsual" reluctantly episode by episode. I thought the first three episodes were pretty censored, given that they weren't even showing the girl wearing her chastity belt. I think episode four was the first time televised that viewers got somewhat of a glimpse of her wearing it... whether or not the channel's censor police missed inserting a random beam of light or a random shadow in a well lit room over the chastity belt is beyond me. The masturbating detail caught me by surprise though... so I'm glad I have headphones. Switching a show's timeslot isn't a big deal, but I'm alarmed to hear Japan has watchdog groups too. Watchdog groups do to TV what Unions do to Businesses... so in ten years time Japanese television might only air shows like "CSI:Tokyo" or "NSIC:Saitama", sometimes clearing out space between the two so that we can either watch Phil Mickelson miss a birdy putt or Maury Povich say "... you are the FATHER" to a skinny man with an irate black woman jumping in the background.
I just hope international pressure never hurts ecchi anime, especially considering the Olympics will be in Tokyo for 2020. That will put EVERYTHING that's possibly wrong with the country by American standards in the spotlight. Hopefully now that they've been selected as the host city, their government can step back a little to tackle real issues like the economy. Sorry for rambling folks.

Also probably helps not having to wake up at 5am to get ready for school like a lot of American kids do.
Surprised nobody has asked what this means for Crunchyroll. If the Japanese time slots have been pushed back then I would imagine theirs would as well depending on how close they were in their simulcast.

An Ika Musume manga chapter brought these topic a few months ago and the solution is quite obvious. If you let your kids have a TV on their rooms you are basically granting them the liberty to fap to whatever late night TV has to offer. Same thing with a computer (or tablet), if you allow your kids to have their iPad/tablet/netwbook in their rooms at night you are giving them permission to wank to whatever the net has to offer.
So moving the time slot will only mean that more PVR will be sold or that they will just download the video stream and watch it whenever; as time goes on even low end phones will have good enough resolution to watch perrvy shows (which usually do not have high frame rates/high quality HD visuals)..

If argument is "they're going to see it anyways" then why is everyone so upset it got moved? The people that want to see it are still gonna, and those that aren't have less of a chance to stumble upon it. Sure, the THINK OF THE CHILDREN logic is a bit far fetched but explicit programs tend to be aired later for a reason. It doesn't actually hurt anyone and makes others more comfortable. Seems like a win/win for the consumers and the broadcasters.

So basically anything before midnight is considering pre-watershed time and not otaku o' clock yet?
Then why did no one complain about Chu-Bra! being aired at 11:30 pm? Or Dance in the Vampire Bund being run at 9:00 am? Or the most gory episodes that got a TV-MA here of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood being run at 5:00 pm?
Japan is weird.
