I had the same thought too when that happened.
So is the half Russian guy and the setter kind of like a balance against Hinata and Kageyama? Both apparently having a tricky start, only Hinata is opposite in size.

Studying definitely isn't their strong suit..
Saeko sure drives in an interesting way.
Guess they had to pay the price for supplementary lessons.
More info about Little Giant get revealed, nice!
Hitoka was on her last nerves... the excitement was a bit much..
Karasuno totally owned Shinzen!!
Hinata was more than overwhelmed with excitement about Lev.
That guy is gonna be a scary opponent!

Haikyuu Season 2, episode 5:
Good episode despite the pacing. We get practice session with Hinata and his team.
What I find most interesting is how he tries so hard despite coming up a bit short (literally in fact). His relationship with Tobio Kageyama in this series remains one of the most complex imo. Anyways, really loved the metaphor imagery of this episode especially with Hinata's eyes and the that awesome ending. I hope Hinata and their team grows stronger together!

The scene of Kageyama and Hinata trying to do an open-eyes quick reminded me of the OVA where Kenma and Lev were working out their timing so that Lev could even hit it at all. Loved the shot of them on the tree top. :D
It was kind of frustrating that Hinata just ignored the coach when he tried to tell him he couldn't have seen the view he was describing, instead of insisting that he actually saw it. (faint Baby Steps vibes there with the eyesight ;) )

Hasn't Hinata been starting to open his eyes for a while now? I thought it was even the second OP that it had Hinata opening his eyes to look at the other side.
It looks like Hinata just needs to translate the confidence he has in Kageyama when his eyes are closed to do it when his eyes are open. Not change any other way he does things except for slight variations that the series mentions happens in a split second to aim it. We know they have to evolve, not be too reliant on where they already are, but most of them are not doing so. Kageyama's reasoning of being able to make unblockable passes really even comes apart when have seen them be blocked. Double standards of getting angry about the implication of it either being his fault or Hinata needs to do more.
It was quite the scuffle we saw.

He has his eyes open for the "normal" quicks, but not for the super quicks that shock everyone.

I feel Hinata needs to learn how to hit with his eyes open becasue how else is he going to be able to see openings and lapses in defence, Kageyama can't control where Hinata is going to spike the ball. this may not be the best time for the to start changing the way it works but more teams are becoming quicker at defending against the quick attack.

Looks like Hinata is walking in the steps of the Little Giant.
Both Kageyama & Hinata actually went looking for help!
These lesson are actually helping, nice ^^
Everyone is training hard now, no exceptions!
Can't wait to see them play after they improve their skills.

Season 2, episode 6
Not going to lie, that Ukai guy is pretty cool despite being somewhat strict. I just love how he teases Hinata with jokes like calling him a Shrimpy yet is able to focus on the fundamentals of tempos. I think Hinata improved as well so hopefully his skills will be utilized in future matches. Definitely looking forward to that.

Season 2, episode 7:
Well that was a nice episode this week.
We got most of the guys working hard and enjoying the fun of playing volleyball except for Tsukishima. Hope we find out more about his background story soon. Mm, I'm kinda hungry for some watermelons after this episode.

Kageyama & Hinata both surprised by each other.
Looks like both of them are on a new level now.
The whole team was trying to do more, be more..
They still need some practice to achieve that.
Tsukishima was a bit off.
He's gonna need to up his level too or he's gonna get cut.

Well it has been a fairly clear background part of Tsukishima for a while, he is a guy who is afraid of trying. He thinks that something worse than losing is to have actually tried hard and still lost, especially when to him he has things like his height going for him. It would be too painful to actually let himself be exposed, it is kind of like why he acts sort of sarcastic, it is that he has surprisingly low self esteem.

Season 2, episode 8:
It's interesting to see more of Tsukki's past and his logic about volleyball. I think that his thoughts about "someone always better out there" is a bit flawed. I mean, it is true but I don't think playing volleyball is always about being the best.
Good characterization this episode.
Loved some of the facial expressions especially Koutarou. I thought the "Sun vs. Moon" reference (Tsukki vs. Hinata) is nice too.

Yamaguchi - Tsukishima childhood story.
Looks like Tsukishima had a big bro who was into volleyball.
Damn, it was harsh getting his vision of big bro crushed like that.
Still, he didn't give up but did the exact opposite.
That was pretty cool!
