look you kids....

Ikki tousen is not a good anime to begin with, they only rely on hot chicks fighting, panty shots, big T & A and a storyline worse than Star wars episode one, so to make an accurate version, who cares if the girls are asian, russia, american or even mexican....

If you have the correct dose of what made the original Ikkitousen good, then cool, thats it...you got what you paid for....

Only thing that made DOA fail is that there wasnt enough T & A size to begin with, devon aoki is as flat as a ping pong table

I'm sick of these LA anime adaptations. They only occasionally work, like the GTO one but...

Heh...I'd be happy to watch this with 6 bottles of Smirnoffs.

xD but I'm going to agree, probably like D.O.A., if not worse.

And I've never seen DOA either...But the commercial for the DVDs were enough to make me cringe.

I predict Courtney Love will have a staring role in this, because we need Princess Ai to do better (in other words, Ikki Tousen would be a launching pad for that other hideousness).

This will be worse than the live-action DOA movie.

**snort** I wouldn't be surprised if she does show up in it. Her co-writer of Princess Ai is **drumroll**Stu Levy who just happens to run Tokyo Pop!

The problem I see here is that they horribly massacred the actual story by turning it into a cheap teen sex/comedy series with some random fighting that is barely explained (thank the horrible scriptwriter/editor for this, some US comic book guy, some big name, that they thought would bring in more of the average non-manga reader market), instead of the fanservice laden, but actually more serious modern retelling of the Romance of the 3 Kingdoms novels (as stated in the article), with teenagers forced to replay the roles of great warriors from times past, but who struggle against their destiny in an effort to survive.
And now, they plan on making a "highschool campus-based comedy" out of their god awful hack job??? Instant fail which will be ignored by this Ikki Tousen fan.

Lets be clear, the article says: "The story is loosely based on the Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms". They did alot of blathering on about how X person is X historical figure which means its their destiny to do etc etc. It was never some serious drama or romance though. If you like Ikki Tousen, or found it to be seriously dramatic, to each his own I guess. For the vast majority of people though, it seems to be basically the vauge concept of romance of the three kingdoms used to hold alot of panty shots and girls ripping each other's clothes apart. So you can see where going in a slightly different direction is the least of the problems here to most people.

I have the perfect director:

I don't recall the Japanese version having a 1000-1 ratio in favor of humans. Theirs like maybe 3 main humans, and an armada's worth of Transformers. Sprinkle a few token humans now and then, and boom, Anime.

The film went overkill mode with the Human count.

What I meant by serious was, in a nutshell, it's not a comedy, like oh-so-much of the english script would have you believe... almost every frame where someone's cracking a joke about such and such's no-no's showing, or some random bystander talking about how many nipslips he's seen in the last week, is actually real dialogue that was ignored for the sake of increasing the shock and awe factor of "OMG, random porn violence", rather than helping to explain the actual story of the manga. And the reason why most people see it as a collection of panty shots and ripped clothes with some random plot interspersed is because of this. It's not my fault no one else seems to care that the actual telling of the story was lost in translation...
And now they plan to make a so-called comedy adaptation (tv series/movie), based off a manga that originally, has practically zero comedic elements once you get past Hakufu's initial ditziness. I'm not so naive as to try grasping for drama or romance in what is obviously a male-oriented action/fanservice series, but just a genuinely accurate portrayal of the source material (Ikki Tousen, not Three Kingdoms), which I'd be hard-pressed to find here...

Out of all the manga, Ikki Tosen? The series has fanservice that would appeal to many, but it has a crappy story. The only thing I actually found interesting was its tie to Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Oh and just to add, Blood the Last Vampire is another anime live-action that is progressing. They have completed filming and are already in post-production and its slated to be released in the spring. The only thing is they don't reveal that much. Only from time to time.

Actually, if anything distinguished some of the Transformers series made solely for the Japanese audience (the Transformers "anime") versus the American ones, it was their emphasis on the humans. This was particularly true in 1988's Transformers Choujin Masterforce, in which which virtually every Transformer had a human "Master" counterpart--including the Destrons/Decepticons.

I rate this R for Retarded.
But in all seriousness, it would be rated R right? With all the fanserivce and such I don't think they'd get away with PG-13.

if I remember correctly spoiler[doesn't one of the girls in this manga put her crocth in a guys face and kill him?]

yes, she spoiler[used handcuffs and was basically pleasuring herself with the guy as she was choking him out]

But really, of ALL the titles in their library, they pick Ikki Tousen?

Because the rights were cheap compared to some good manga they have?
I think they could've used one of their OEL/world manga creators. Maybe some Von Van Hunter and Dramacon or RE:Play. Hell, I'd respect them commiting to that Princess Ai but not this.
