For me, LoGH is about dynamic duos Reinhard and Kircheis. I refuse to see this as Reinhard vs. Yan Wen-li on the forefront.

I bet you they are. In still form, the cell shading and rendering is good enough to deceive you, but there are tell tale signs that give it away
1) constant limited frame rate, spacing, pacing -- zero modulation
2) their mouths -- the jaws move with every lip flap for normal talking in frontal view. They forgot this part about the model rigging to simulate 2D. This is one of the major signs.
3) lines are perfectly contiguous here. in every drawn 2D there are intentional breaks. This is pretty hard to duplicate programmatically actually and no software I've seen can do it yet.
There should be more signs like about intentinally distorted prespective/proportions/placement that is present in 2D but missing here (e.g. look at mouth placement from side view) as we see more of the characters. If hair also moves too much, as if weighted by some applied physics, then that's also another sign.

...this series was always about the battle of intellects and philosophies between Reinhard and Yang.

Most part of my enjoyment died after season 1 so I don't remember much of the rest. I enjoyed the movies though.
