Koyaanisqatsi font? That's a weird choice... Could mean some interesting direction but I've seen S1 and I know not to get my hope up.

I see they cleverly avoided showing any characters except the Major, and any actual character animation, lest people make the obvious connection between this and SAC's first opening and draw some unfortunate conclusions...

Same. "Could be interesting but I've seen S1" was pretty much the reaction I had as well... too bad.
I just hope they at least fixed the Major's animation so her "sexy hip sway" doesn't look like she's walking with a stick up her butt. (Or hey, revolutionary idea: perhaps they could avoid a "sexy hip sway" altogether...)

I don't know about that in particular, but the mouth movements that I found so distracting are still there. I'm grateful that Ghost in the Shell already relied on the brain-to-brain communication so that a lot of the talking is done without mouth movements anyway.

Ugh don't remind me. I remember a scene in S1 where they managed to screw up the mouth animation so much the teeth were actually moving... (either that or they were just placed incredibly weirdly)

This series ended with Yoko Kanno. Everything else is not canon IMO

Meh I’ll give it a shot. The plot threads at the end of s1 showed promise, a return to form. Shame the animation and BGM won’t change though…

Bummed Michael McCarty isn't back to do Ishikawa even though IMDB says he is. Actual episode credits say David Lodge is doing it. Sounds so different...

Ugh. I'm not even photosensitive and I think that video needs a seizure warning. Nice one, animators. :-/ Well, at least Netflix has the option of skipping it.
I'm with everyone else saying "Could be interesting, but I've seen season one." I'll have a look, but odds are I won't save this to my list again.

OKAY OKAY OKAY I WAS NOT PREPARED.
At first the writing was phenomenally better! We had tension and plot development, and stakes rising higher and higher. The Tachikoma were the best at being their strange and humorous and oddly caring selves. Purin, whom I thought was a joke character, became a tragic badass. I got whiplash from the emotions in her origin episode so hard that I was freaking out over Discord at a friend. The HSQ was off the charts overall.
And then the ending. How utterly dissatisfying.
Y'know, except for that part, I was astounded by how well this season turned out, enough that I found myself hoping there actually wouldn't be a season three. This set the bar surprisingly high, and that gives me concerns over how well a continuation would hold up.
So yeah. Season one was apparently a fluke, and this went down shockingly well. Good luck with all the Feels that're gonna repeatedly slap you in the face, folks.

I agree on pretty much all parts. It was all relatively great up until the last few episodes where it really seemed to just be rehashing bits from previous seasons: A rogue A.I. being responsible for the Post-Humans, which just turns out to be a 2nd Gig-esque refugees-are-all-connected-on-a-shared-network scenario, the threat of nukes, the team getting taken out one by one in the penultimate episode much like the last few episodes of the very first season. The last episode was just kind of a mess and I personally didn't understand it, I guess. Seems like Motoko did not pull the plug and everyone is living in a new.....reality? Purin introduces herself and no one remembers her? Would've been a good opportunity for Batou to actually remember her this time(and it kinda seems like he might), but we don't get a satisfying conclusion. Instead, the last few minutes a devoted to Motoko and Batou having another roof-top night meeting where she is again leaving S9, repeats more iconic lines from other seasons/film, and jumps off into nothing like she has to in every season/series/film, I guess. This season was going so, so great and then just doesn't stick the landing. Really unsatisfying.

And given what Batou was saying about Motoko carrying burdens, I really do think he knows something's up and isn't being let in yet again, which makes me wonder what Aramaki's been told. (Let your best friend and boss help, Major! FFS.)
Anyway, there's multiple reasons why "2045" isn't saved to my Netflix list. As pleased as I was with some episodes of season one and overall impressed by season two, I still don't think it's a worthy continuation of "Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex." But "GITS: SAC" is my favorite in the GITS franchise, so I may be biased.

I haven't watched s2 yet to judge it but I think the reason for the difference in writing quality can be explained that Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama directed different parts of the series.

I like the OP. The visuals are cool and the song is interesting. Something about the chords are somehow nice and off putting at the same time.
I'm only 5 episodes deep into the season but I'm enjoying it a lot. I think it starts off a lot more interesting than S1. I like every GitS series though.
