It occurs to me that no one ever responded to this.

This is awesome news! I'm not a Miyavi fanatic, but I enjoy most of his music. It makes me wonder, with this influx of all these Japanese artists coming to the US (Kajiura, TMR, MOVE, etc), maybe one of these days L'Arc will come. Very Happy

*nods* I listened to his Gagaku album and several of his songs are quite good... ^^

*o* You would not believe how happy this would make me! I think it's still a long way until stubborn L'Arc comes to the US (they were reluctant to go to Taiwan), but it's certainly a start. ^-^

*coughs* For the sake of bringing this post back on topic... yay Miyavi! Anime hyper

Might have something to do with the impending threat of Chinese attack every few years

But on the other hand, TMR is a stickler about doing concerts in Japan, and he was at Otakon. With the influx of music guests, I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually got Utada Hikaru, etc, and of course, L'Arc. Very Happy

While I'm not saying that will never happen, TM-R is miles away from being as big as L'Arc, much less Utada.

So far the biggest artist (taking current popularity into account) to come to a con has been Koda Kumi, and even she doesn't come close.

I doubt it. ^^; Hyde said something like, "We didn't want to hold a concert in Taiwan because we thought nobody would come."
o_O Silly Hyde.

I like to think that Hikaru is a big possibility. ^-^ I think the two main reasons why Japanese musicians are reluctant to perform in anime cons are:
1) Communication or being comfortable with the audience, which wouldn't be a problem since Hikaru speaks English fluently
and
2) Schedule. Hikaru is probably a busy girl, but I doubt her schedule is nearly as overwhelming as work-a-holics like Gackt or Hyde. ^^;
So yes, I'm really hoping for Hikaru. ^-^

Miyavi has been dropped from ACEN's lineup. According to a letter from his touring agency, which was aparently accidentally posted this morning, they were having a problem getting his engineer worked out. Because of this they weren't sure they would be able to maintain their quality in the performance so they have started cancelling Miyavi's appearances until further notice. So no Miyavi at ACEN.

Any plans on replacing the performance with someone else?

Not just ACen, but the entire US Miyavi tour has been cancelled. It included PMX in Anaheim, A-kon in Dallas, and Jacon in Orlando.
