The movies are what most people think of when they hear Transformers and are the most successful iteration of the franchise. People who grew up with the 80s cartoon seem to take the franchise a bit too seriously IMO. An almost fanatical devotion to it and a hatred for the movies. The movies existing doesn't mean the 80s cartoon suddenly disappeared.
Trust me, mate. I am NOT a purist for the original series. I've accepted more TF series than most TF fans. I honestly hate those people, if it's not G1, it's automatically crap, that's their logic. Even if it is set in the G1 universe, they don't like it, therefore, there's no pleasing these pricks no matter how much you try and because of that I partially blame them for why Transformers has gone crap in recent years. What is the point?
The other logic is if it's anime, it's crap. Yeah, those guys make up a huge portion of the TF fanbase.
I would even dare say that G1 had too many low points. Ill-conceived ideas made into episodes, AKOM, to name a couple, so it's not the masterpiece they make it out to be. But its high points were really high such as the movie (1986), I'll give it that.
But Bayformers is actually crap, not just because it's not faithful to G1, although that certainly doesn't help, but because it's not faithful to ANY TF series between G1 and Cybertron.
That's like saying Cybertron is crap because it's not faithful to any TF series between G1 and Energon. The movies were different, yeah, but they were also very, very good. Even Revenge of the Fallen, undoubtedly the low point, was better than the high points of shows like Energon and Cybertron.

There are not enough facepalms in the world to express how ridiculous that statement is.

I don't know what to say. You are honestly the very first person I have ever seen say that.
I'm sorry. At least Energon/Super Link had the hilarious and entertaining VR Fighting Tournament episode (44, to be exact) which was easily more fun than the entirety of RotF.
Same thing for Cybertron/Galaxy Force. It was entertaining all the way through and actually made Starscream a worthy threat instead of a joke, the complete opposite of how RotF treated The Fallen.

Actually, since you don't seem to realize, I was saying that the movie was not faithful to ANY existing series at that point in time. And at that point, Cybertron was the last series, that's what I meant by not faithful to anything between G1 and Cybertron.
It had the title, but it wasn't Transformers at all. It was a gag movie with poorly-written characters and poor class humour. But if you think 'scrotum' is a 'high point', whatever tickles your fancies.
EDIT: And 'poorly' is me being polite. The movies were written by a bunch of geeks with no sense of professionalism. Just images in their minds of how the action scenes would look and tasteless jokes instead. Grown men who write with the sensibilities and mindset like that of teenagers -_-'

That's because they're the same game.

War did okay, but Fall flopped and seems to have ended things. The studio that developed them, High Moon, suffered severe layoffs after their Deadpool game sold poorly. They now port Call of Duty games to PS3/360.
