Okay, this isn't particularly important but I'm just wondering on this. Is everyone going to be straight? Because if this is going to be heavily romance and discussion of romance focused but it's all going to be 100% hetero, I'm going to get really bored really fast.

So it turns out that "taco shell" was actually a pizza... It's good thing I finished dinner a couple hours earlier, then. I would've lost my appetite... |

Ugh, why did you have to remind me about the lettuce. Yellow cheese and lettuce in a taco, seriously 'murrica, what did tacos ever do to you?! |

@CrowLia
So you actually have tacos in Mexico?? I always thought they were a US attempt to fake Mexican food. Hmm, just exactly what do you put in a taco shell?? |

This is the first one of these that I actually laughed at. If this is what the rest of the series is gonna be like, then I'm looking forward to it.
@Alan45: Tacos don't really have shells in Mexico. They have tortillas, and you put meat and a variety of other things in them. Where are you from that you didn't know this??? Is the north really this deprived of good Mexican food??????? I don't think I could live further north than Texas. You can at least find great Mexican food here if you know where to look, and Tex-Mex is a pretty good spinoff. Hell, what with the rising Mexican population in Texas, it's easier than ever to get good food. |

Surely you jest. There is no way people actually believe we use those abominations also known as "shells" in our food. Those monstrosities are not even shaped like real tacos. Is America truly so beyond salvation?! And to answer your question, there's a lot of things you can put in tacos, but lettuce and yellow cheese are never amongst them (although you do put lettuce on top of "fried tacos" aka "flautas". Operative word being "on top". Not inside) |

@CrowLia & GVman
That is basically what I meant when I said it was "fake" Mexican food. Obviously some fast food operator in the US took a Mexican word for a real food and attached it to something they wanted to sell that was vaguely Mexican. Unfortunately, what they came up with was quick, easy to prepare, portable and does taste good. For myself, I did not encounter anything that even claimed to be Mexican food until I was in my thirties. The only time I was ever in Texas, I spent several days in Dallas in a German owned hotel, which more or less precluded exposure to Mexican or TexMex food. We do have some mid level restaurants here that claim to be Mexican, but as I have no basis of comparison I can't tell if the food is authentic. Tastes good though. |
