You hit the nail on the head. Cultural differences, people forgetting that Anime is made for a Japanese audience and not for the US market, Anime is just fiction, the usual...

I wouldn't call Lucky Star a Moe Anime, as its too self-aware, too chaste and un-exploitative, but that's just me.

I think these videos should tell people this is NOT going to be like Usagi Drop, like I saw a lot of people comparing it to in the Spotlight topic.

I'm dying at your quote. I think I'm coming down with a cold or something. Only something this straight would have me in stitches right now. I'd like to change the title to Listen to me .... I'm your Sugar Daddy. Oh great another property about getting them dang girls to behave. I like Idolm@ster better.

To be honest I'm getting the feeling Japan is just running through these types of ideas. It's like how many anime or games can we make about a bunch of girls that have the body of a 12 year old and cram them into a house with one guy. Oh the hijinks.

Let me say something for a minute, despite what this maybe I can still hope for a heart warming drama right?? I am sick of people throwing the moe~ pedo, shit around all the time and yes I will admit this isn't an anime for us in the west. "some series have proven us wrong however.. lucky star I do love but i don't know why..ahem"

It's a simple fan-service series with your basic shy, tsundere, kuudere and loli arc types for hardcore otaku to fap over. However I will not judge this based on trailer, it's not professional nor is it the right thing to do from my reviewers stand point, but i will not fully disagree with you guys.

On a different note I think Japan is trying way to hard with the incest envelope as of late which creeps me out a bit with uncle/niece but eh.. 'yousga no sora was good...for reasons" so was canvas 2, kannon 2006 'cousins don't bother me". There are two options left for the series i just hope it takes the high ground and he goes for his shy, child hood friend to help raise the girls.. do i honestly see this happening..50/50 chance.

I am getting sick and tired of moe pedo thing as well. It bothers me that people always assume the worst, but people's opinions cannot be changed that easily.

I am looking forward to it myself as I have read a little bit of the manga and I enjoyed it.

I'm pretty confident it'll do well. Not great, but probably 5-6k range, like other recent Feel titles (Mayo Chiki, Yosuga no Sora and Kiss x Sis all sold in that range). It was able to get 2 cour as well since its based on a pretty popular light novel.

Guess I'm gonna advocate a devil and say I kinda look forward to it.......

I mean, people have been complaining about anime being filled with nothing but childless teenagers(while ignoring Touhara Naoya who has a 10 year old daughter in a recent anime). And here we have a guy taking care of 3 daughters...all on his own...while struggling with the hardships of being a university student.

Anyways, I'm interested to see why their parents would leave their 3 pretty daughters to a lone university student...who no doubt is studying like his life depends on it just to get a decent grade...or how he plans on feeding and bathing 3 girls...or why all 3 daughters have different hair colors(he has a brother who sleeps around a lot?)

The following is a very shortened and simplified explanation of the story, precisely, the 1st chapter of the main manga series published on Jump SQ magazine (the series has a number of other manga serializations on other magazines):

The mother of the 3 girls, the protagonist's elder sister and his last blood related relative, and her husband went missing in an airplane accident on their trip.
As for why the 3 girls have different hair color, 2 of the elder daughters are from the father's previous marriages, so only the youngest of the 3 is blood related to him.

After the girls' parents went missing, the family on the father side attempted to coerce the girls into splitting up (which is a decision heavily based on rationality in that raising another 3 children would usually be an impossible task), or they'll be put into a foster care facility. The protagonist, who've only spent a short time with the 3 girls, is angered at the possibility of the 3 girls have to be separated, so he decided to take all 3 of them in to his small apartment. It's this kind of irrational decision that would not happen in reality that have caught my interest in this series.

Plus based on what I've read of the manga, up to ch05 of the main series - approximately 1.5 volume, all the characters that have shown themselves are all likable, and only those that is completely allergic to any kind of fan service will have problem with this series. Of course that is if the anime won't veer off too far from the manga.

The anime isn't based on the manga adaptation (that would make it an adaptation of an adaptation), so I wouldn't expect it to follow the manga per se, but the core story should be the same.

We know what type of audience they're going for with these trailers. Laughing

A couple decades ago, the mainstream view about anime is that it's pornographic. A couple decades later, it's pedophilic. If ya guys remember how hard the fight was to change people's opinion back then, imagine how hard it'll be in the future. Laughing

How convenient. Laughing

Yeah, no child protection agency would allow that. Laughing

And THIS alone is what makes anime great. Very Happy

That, and it has no trouble depicting stuff normally not allowed or frowned upon.
