Thank you, THANK YOU Funimation! I had just resigned myself to the idea that I'd simply mute the opening credits and play an mp3 of the TV size of "Falling Down" whenever I watched your DVDs, but now I won't have to!

This was an 80% sure buy for me before, now it is 95%, and that other 5% is wanting to be able to see the movie sequels first -- which you've licensed, so now I can rent them all! Yay! Go Funimation, today you rock!

This must have cost them big time. Maybe they are looking for a TV deal on this one?

I wouldn't count on it, given that the series is kinda short. A bit longer if you include the movies which continue the story. Anything could happen at this point though.

Chobits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The people at Funi just now what to give me. Chobits was one of the first Anime I watched and it was and still is in my top Ten. Good pick. Hope they will use the old dub, it was perfect.

Also, good to hear that Spice Wolf II is licensed but I can't say I didn't see that one coming. lol.

Question though, when are we going to hear new information about My Bride is a Mermaid?

Who wants to listen to a non-Japanese theme song?!
Might as well bring back the Backstreet Boys!! Razz

Cool. I was seriously expecting the opening song to get replaced, so it's nice they were able to keep it. I just hope they're not spending huge amounts of money and potentially taking a loss on this show to please fans.

Of course, you could always just watch the actual OP instead:

Hmm, that is kind of snazzy. A good opening. Not the best I've ever seen but a worthy one.

Personally, I think it is a great OP (musically and visually), but not anywhere near good enough to be a dealbreaker. Those who said they wouldn't buy the DVDs if the song was altered were either being hysterical drama queens, or they need to sort out their priorities. But hey, the song has been kept, so it's all good, right?
You'd think all would be good now but I guarantee you people will complain about something. (Probably some sort of video quality issue.)

@ Rinkwolf: My Bride is a Mermaid Season 1 Part 1 will be released on July 20th according to Funimation.

Big thank you to Funimation for going the extra mile here; I just hope all the people that were threatening not to buy the show make it worth your while.

But it's not a deal-breaker to many people because it's not wapanese! Laughing

I was buying this on Blu-Ray regardless. So this is just gravy.

(People who would boycott the release over THE OP SONG are weird and petty.)

I second this! And I'll bet because of this series notoriety someone like [adult swim] or Spike will take a chance with it!

This is good news for Eden of the East.

What are the reasons why FUNimation did not get "Lili Marleen" sung by Minna Dietlinde Wilcke (Rie Tanaka) for the North American Region 1 DVD release of Strike Witches and had to replace it with "Negai no Tomoshibi" sung by the same person then?

Can anyone from FUNimation explain Minna's insert song replacement in Episode 8 of Strike Witches?

Put yourself in their shoes. I am a huge Duran Duran fan and not getting Girls on Film for the R1 release of Speed Grapher was a huge upset (but completely understandable) Even worse was not getting 7 o'clock News for the first season of Kodocha... For me that song has soooo many memories attached to it Sad Bought every volume of both shows on day one regardless, but still, it can mean just that much to someone.

It's Funimation, so unfortunately that's almost a foregone conclusion.

Laughing Haha! Now that Funi has accomplished this feat, put your money where your mouth is and buy Eden of the East when it comes out.

I'll be picking up Slayers Evolution-R and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood either during the next Funimation sale or during OMGCon. Whichever comes first.
