Dear 4Kids

**** you. Please go burn in hell you selfish bastards (not the employees though as they are innocent bystanders).

Signed, a Yu-Gi-Oh fan who has been dying to see more un-cut DVD releases of the Duel Monsters in North America.

P.S I REALLY hope the judge doesn't pass this. This is bullshit and a massive slap in the face to the fans. I am wanting a company like Funimation to snatch this franchise up and finally give the fans what they really want: un-cut DVD releases!

Ahh, Subbed Yu-Gi-Oh. Where all the trouble began.

I don't think we'll ever see those in America again, no matter who has it.

Unless a company like Funimation snags it. They did release 3 un-cut DVD's of Yu-Gi-Oh! thanks to Funi.

Viz has rights to the manga. I'd call that being interested. :U

Rights in which they basically got for nothing. Rolling Eyes

As for potential future suitors. I'd definitely stay away from Funimation. They haven't marketed a children's property well in 10 years, and have mishandled launches associated with Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Dragon Ball Kai. Neither one had any sort of merchandise on store shelves (save for Dragon Ball games) outside of DVDs - which is extremely odd for two of anime's largest franchises. You might get uncut DVDs, but I'd guarantee popularity in the franchise won't be on the way up with them.

So that voice-actor issue is finished?

I don't think Funimation is interested in Yu-Gi-Oh either. They're already under watch from TVT/NAS

No idea. Been what, 2 years ago since that dispute?

They might be able to work something out if there is a new license holder. Who knows? I'm not giving up on hoping for more un-cut releases.

Well if subbed Yu-Gi-Oh still can't be streamed, I don't think uncut DVD are returning any time soon.

It was an issue with Shunsuke Kazama, Yugi's seiyuu, and according to his recording company, any country that's not Japan is not allowed to hear his voice. >:T

Yes, I'm fully aware on who was involved in the dispute.

....I really hope that wasn't the sole reason why this issue happened in the first place. =/

This is a blog of a fansubbing (or used to be now that I've seen the November update in regards to removing the illegal video downloads) download site and not an official source.

Try again.

Ok call me crazy but if by some miracle FUNimation snatches all the rights from 4kids, and they immediately start releasing uncut DVDs. I would actually like to see the actors (even Dan Green) be replaced with new ones. Lets face it, even if that DVD idea were to ever occur there would need to be some replacements no matter what seeing as Eric Stuart (Kaiba) has left voice acting, and Maddie (Grandpa) is dead. Personally I would love to see Marik voiced be Vic Mignogna, and perhaps Chuck Huber as Kaiba among others. Don't shoot me...

ANN is simply a blog site as well, yet we trust it ...

The news is somewhere on ANN here, it is true.

Umn, ANN is a bit more than just a blog site.

While the news may be on ANN "somewhere", it would be nice to actually have a link to it for confirmation.

EDIT: The closest thing I found was this article here, but that only says the streaming stopped "due to a rights issue in Japan." It doesn't specify what the issue was.

Well, it is a site where people post news, but it isn't what one would consider a professional news site, like NY Times and such.
